AndyX ROM

Think I'm going to have to give up with this one :(

I've used quite a few AndyX's and generally really like them but for what ever reason this one is buggy for me.

Battery life is not as good as previous, for example last night when I went to bed had 50-60% left, cant remember exactly, but this morning I'm already down to 70% and used the phone loads more yesterday.

Screen goes blank during call - you have to press unlock or home to get screen to show up so you can end call or use keypad.

Constant crashes when trying to use calendar - takes ages to come back into life.

android.acore/google.calendar.sync/calendar/apex launcher/nova launcher has stopped, etc, etc, etc......

Every now and then Wi-Fi and other Toggle issues - light comes on in notification bar but doesn't activate, etc

Mentioned this before, but also the Alarms. Hardly goes off when its suppose to and IF it does using Samsung alarm tune and not music one I set

I know some people will read thinking didn't do full wipe but I always wipe everything, more than once, and use Hawker's cleaners, etc so I'm confident no issues there.

Any recommendations for something more reliable, better and will hopefully not have the above ??

Hi cozins17!

Your problems sound very familiar to me. Have a read of this thread about my problems, and solution, with AndyX, here.

So in short, can I just flash Stock ICS through cwm, reboot, then re flash AndyX and then Siyah, etc??

Presuming I would have to do wipes, etc?

I flashed stock ICS via Odin after a factory reset and wipe of internal USB storage. After that you can use CWM Recovery for AndyX.

Is there an easy way to wipe usb storage?

I'm having same troubles again and wandering if it's down to this.

Edit: scratch the above - I've found it in the settings!!

Hawker,

Ive read before that you always recommend doing a full wipe before installing any Rom.......but is it completely neccasary if you are upgrading from V12.1 to V13.0

I think I read on Andy Xs site that to upgrade from 12.0 to 12.1 all you had to do was wipe Dalvik.

Sorry if you have mentioned this before but I wanted to add something on to this thread so I will be notified when more updates about when the ROM is out.

Just been to the site and the write up is there but the download link doesnt seem to be working as of yet

Cheers Calvo

it really is up to you mate.
Bear in mind, although you are staying on the same ROM (ie AndyX) you are upgrading from LP9 to LPD firmware.

I would always advise a full wipe, but if you're dead against it, then suck it and see. If you get problems (immediate or further down the line) then a wipe and reinstall is always an option.

Hawker,

Much obliged mate..... I understand it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Ive tried a lot of Roms. I keep having this problem....Im unsure if I should post it here but whilst I have your attention Ill give it a whirl. If not Ill remove the post.

When I do a Titanium Back up then flash a new rom. I open up Titanium again and when I go to Batch install my Backups, the figure is always 0 and it doesnt recognise the back up? do I have to divert it to a specific folder? Ive read the instructions but it doesnt seem that I have to do this?

Fortunately somewhere in between flasing Roms I discoverd an App that takes a back up of all the APks I have and placed it in a folder called Backups. (Hopefully this isnt Titanium Back up, I am willing to accept the abuse I deserve if it is) It was a simple folder with all the icons of each app and could be installed straight from my File Manager. I have no idea what this app was but it was a life saver, any ideas??????

TB creates a folder on root called TitaniumBackup where it stores its backups.
You will have one in the root of your SD card.
I always backup to external SD, as quite often I will format the internal SD card (eg, when I went from GB to ICS, or if I just fancy a clean up)
By default TB points to internal SD card. If you back up to external, then the first time you run TB after flashing a new ROM, you will have to tell TB to look at the external SD card.

Perhaps this is the case for you?

By the way, its not very wise to use TB to back up system apps and data as these apps will invariably change between ROMs so restoring these is very dangerous. I only ever use TB to back up my own apps and data, and only on a select few apps will I restore apps+data. I mostly only restore apps, as sometimes the data can make the apps FC between firmware versions.

Think I'll give this a go (the uploaded.to mirror is slow, but works for me) - I've not been too hot on the official versions of ICS so far (well, no versions, tbh!) but this one seems to float my boat. :D

Flashed the update last night. So far a lot more responcive. Less lock ups ( none so far) Smoother. Cant vouch for battery yet. Seems similar ro v12 but ive been on it all morning . 89-69% in 2 hours game playing

Anyone trouble with taking screenshot on the new ROM? Can`t use Home+Power, not working. Any other options?

Home and power is working fine for me! As is volume down and power!

Definitely prefer this ROM too the dragon ROM, just wish it had a few of the other options that the dragon one had.

vol-down+power can also be used for screenshots

Thanks, but already tried that and not working. Actually tried all combinations between physical buttons without any luck. Might have to re-flash the ROM. Another strange thing, with CF-Root Kernel the wifi use to get hanging randomly when switching on. Just getting in the Connecting state without actually connecting. Rebooting was solving the issue temporary. Switched to Siyah Kernel and problem solved, anyone else faced this?

Its definitely not as responcive as Gingerbread. Screen shots were easy then. Now you have to hold the buttons down rather than just press them.

Thought I'd give this a we bump as it seems to be live, not tried it yet, but will down load when I Getty back from work... Bloody 9 to 5 at a weekend....grrr
