AndyX ROM

Giving this a try as Neat ROM is hammering my battery. Got a few issues though:

When I try to set up my Samsung dive account it keeps telling me that my email addy is invalid despite using the correct address.

Also, the sms text is black on grey for received messages, anyone know how to change this?? It's impossible to see it on mine.

Sometimes the external memory card doesn't show up either.

1. I can sign into Samsung account. Is that the same?

2. The black on gray looks fine to me, but I use Handcent normally, which allows colour changes.

3. Haven't had external memory troubles yet. Where doesn't it show up and what card are you using?

1. Yes, that's the Samsung Dive account I'm on about. Can log into their website using my email addy, but adding the account on the phone says "invalid email address". :confused:

2. Is Handcent a third party app?

3. It wasn't showing up in My Files or on my computer when connected via USB. Only the internal memory shows up. This afternoon though it's showing both again. :confused: Can't remember which memory card I have. Think it might be a Kingston 16Gb.
 
how do you download this rom? any valid links or can anybody can share the file here? everytime i do it to andy's link after the 30 second is finish it gives me a different file not the rom!
 
Well I did have it shared but obviously a lot of people still look here cause my Dropbox got disabled for 3 days for over-use. Try my link in the OP in a day or so ;)

rodofgod: Sounds like a Samsung account issue, not a rom issue. Try logging into your Samsung account here and see if it works. Also yeah Handcent is third party. I've got a Sandisk one which has never had issues but I've had a 32gb Kingston format itself on me and other brands have been equally well rejected by my SGS2. I think it's a bit picky with micro sd cards...

Thanks to you for a great, stable rom. I'd say since I started using ICS in late Jan, I've had AndyX as my primary rom for 95% of the time. Keep up the good work!

adesirello would know more than me, but I'd say it's probably not safe. The firmware upgraded from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 over the 2 version changes so I recommend a fullwipe with titanium restore.
 
My whatsapp plus message say "This version of Whatsapp is too old..." How do i upgrade this? I can't do it over the Playstore. Thks in advance.

Welcome to the forums jimmyay! This isn't the best place to ask that question, but I'll answer it anyway :)

Go here to download the newest version of whatsapp. It's in apk format so download it from your phone and install it. You will need to enable Unknown Sources in the Settings menu (for me it's under Security -> Unknown Sources) before you can install the apk regardless of which method you download with. To install the apk, you must locate it in your download folder of the phone's internal memory (called internal sd card). It's much easier to install as soon as it has downloaded since you do not have to locate it.

So as adesirello stated, v17.1 is out!! If you're like me and coming from v17.0, there's no need to fullwipe, but first delete the folder called "tweaks" in the Internal SD before doing wipe dalvik etc. I don't know why, it's just the instructions given by adesirello, so it's best to follow them!
 
the only problem is the incoming and outgoing text is so dark. it is very hard to read because the them is dark too.

jimmyay, I was able to install the new version after I deleted the Whatsapp folder under /system/app (I used Root Browser Lite) and rebooted the phone.

Sorry gents I haven't updated myself yet, been a busy week again. I'll hopefully download it to that dropbox folder tonight and install it some other time. Watch this space!

Edit: On a more serious note; those using AndyX rom or other similar sammy-based roms should install NoUSSD from the Play Store to protect against remote wipe from malicious websites. See this article for more details. Thanks to mystvearn and jayroller for the tips!
 
Well I finally decided to try and give it a go..... Been onv 15 since it came out, then kept it while I dual booted with cm10.... I quite liked the jkay mod, and lock screen, cm10 had the same lock screen option (5 icons to slide to) is there anyway of getting this with v17.1?

Going to keep jumping back and forth as I do enjoy having a working radio, kinda like bits from both cameras, option wise.... Like I say though, gonna keep switching between and see how v17.1 fairs....

come on sir kie. where the 17.1? its more than 10 hours already? where is it? maybe u mean in about 20 hours, instead of 2 hours? or maybe u mean 2 days???

Whoops. Not sure if you could've downloaded it by now my good mate instead of waiting for my useless ass to realise that I had to update the link to match the new file! MY BAD! It's fixed now though! Enjoy :D

Someone says they're going to take over maintaining it, but I reckon that's it for this one. I'll probably just stick with v17.1 until official JB makes it's way out. ;)

Guys im using a siyah kernel with android version 4.0.4. Will this rom work? Is it worth trying out? Also when if i try it and i follow the instructions does it wipe EVERYTHING ? as in contact info, photos and apps?
