Angry Birds updated...

Solved = Rovio fixes the damn game so the ads don't interfere with game play. Rovio offers an ad-free paid version.
Workaround = rooting or airplane mode.

Yes, there are workarounds but a workaround is NOT a solution.

If you don't like it you can always not play. Just a thought.

Snarkyness is neither a solution nor a workaround. How are you helping?

I'm pretty sure Rovio's motivation behind the changes wasn't driven by the desire to ensure that people "not play" it.

I did not quite like the Mighty Eagle, but do a lot of people download it??lol

I don't understand what this means. Could you elaborate?

If you go back and read the thread there have been numerous workarounds posted. Yes there was snarkyness behind my post, but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who complain about a free app. Is it a fun game? Yes, but it's Rovio's game. If the posters in this thread don't like the way Rovio is doing business coming onto androidforums and whining about it isn't going to solve anything. Either use the workarounds already posted numerous times, or contact Rovio and complain to them directly.

The poster in question was specifically stating that he is willing to pay for the game. It being free is no excuse for poor programming or planning.

Also, I see your point about how complaining in an open forum does nothing to motivate a company to improve. It explains why sites like Consumerist are such an abysmal failure. Why would a company like Rovio pay any attention to the largest Android community on the web? I'm sure none of their employees have ever visited this site.

because it's only a vocal minority complaining.... I have used those workarounds and I don't worry about it. You seem to think Rovio OWES you something..... they owe you nothing. So it does go back to... if you don't like it, go somewhere else. Rovio seems to be doing just fine. They are making tons of money, possibly even a movie. If your problem was such a problem for the majority, then they wouldn't be doing as well as they are.

Your problems are the minority, and they owe you NOTHING. Either use the workaround or don't. No skin off their teeth.

Your post is repetitive, redundant, and says the same thing over and over.

If you think complainers are the minority, you haven't gone to the market and read the reviews that have been consistently posted since they had the genius idea of putting the ad at the top.

Bose & Britney Spears make tons of money too, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're putting out good stuff. Ask any audiophile. Besides, plenty of companies have started out with a good product, gained recognition, and then had the quality of their products steadily decline while still making money. If you want a good example, look at Norton Antivirus.

Also, your argument is circular and nonsensical. You really think they're making all that money off the FREE version for Android? No, they're making it from the iphone version, which they sell, and which doesn't have these problems.

I don't get people who argue against why a company should put out a quality product. Fanboys perhaps? So what if it's free?

...not to mention that people are willing to pay for it.

Also, not being able to use your phone as a phone is never an acceptable solution.

$$ talks....

just because you don't like Britney spears music, doesn't mean it's not good to the target audience.

Ever think Rovio could care less about android market? Angry Birds was for ios... and was plenty successful over there. assigning a B squad developer to make it for Droid's 57 platforms is probably more of an initiation than anything.

Britney Spears (while not my cup of tea) doesn't need to change her style of music to impress you or I... her target audience is plenty happy, and Spear's bank account backs that statement.

Just because you WANT no ads on droid doesn't mean they "owe it" to you. I bet Bunny Bombers and Justin Beiber would be right up your alley and Angry Birds and Britney Spears probably won't miss you...

Durrr, good job repeating what I said like you're making an excellent point.

It doesn't have to be no ads. I'd settle for ads that don't block the part you need to see. I'm guessing this would be your idea of acceptable ad placement:

I'm not sure why you don't understand the concept of why a company shouldn't put out a substandard product, but you're entitled to your opinion, even if it's dumb.

Worked like a charm. Thanks. I am surprised so many people are complaining in this thread when you posted such a simple solution.

I have no problem with this it was so bad that i will avoid anyone i see advertising on Angry birds so in a sense i'm doing them a favor by NOT seeing the adds I will more likely buy from someone that DOESN'T interfere with my entertainment. :D

That is some awesome, convoluted logic I can get behind. :D
