Anime/Manga not so ultimate otaku Lounge

I watched the first Mushishi, I liked it well enough.

Not sure I liked it enough to go for another series - but I do appreciate the tip! :)

I tried the magic girls (linked the other day, Madoka Magica) - the opening graphics were outstanding - but... Not sure if that's for me after an episode and a half. :(

I want a new Death Note or GITS or something...

I also want an Air Car. Or the Swordfish II.

Well Early, this may be close to one of the things you're looking for...

It got a bit too....fan service-y for me I suppose? So I stopped.

I did however watch all of Tokyo Ghoul Season One. I really enjoyed that one

I've been watching something totally out of the norm for the past couple of days. It's called, Aku no Hana (The Flowers of Evil). I don't know if you could consider it anime since it was done in rotoscope. It's based on a manga with the same name though. And the plot from what I've seen so far is something that could actually happen in real life.

So, started darker than black. I think I got about two episodes in, and meh. Seems to be progressing a little slowly for my tastes

Tokyo ghoul is a bit more involved than just zombies. They are more or less regular people. It was quite good, IMO.

Started one called Mirai Nikki. Interesting so far

I started Kingdom long ago - started it twice actually.

Now I'm at episode 30 and fully invested. I'm really liking how it evolves to explain medieval warfare - as well as the character story for its own benefit.

I meant nothing by putting Tokyo Ghoul in a zombie genre - it just seemed like a fact at the time. I agree, zombie has taken on a narrow definition that I didn't mean in my comment.

I have to say that the visual art work stands out instantly from the beginning, so my comments ought not dissuade watching - just saying that it's pretty gory.

But - Kingdom is way gory so don't read anything into that either.

Lol - words vs anime - beyond the spoilers, words vs anime is probably why it's so hard to carry this thread! :D

If anyone wants to get into Kingdom, this map is helpful. I'm enjoying how the story explains medieval battle strategy as it goes along.

Parasyte is awesome so far. I think I'm on episode 5. I like the humor they throw in there, too. Helps lighten the mood a bit, and it's all related and used in the right context.

Just finished all of Mirai Nikki. It was good! There's an OVA as well, since the ending didn't really wrap everything up, IMO. So I'll have to give that a watch.
