Help Annoying Message "Prevention Information"

I've had my Note pretty much since launch (28th Sept) and I got this message out of the blue a couple days back. I hadn't installed anything new since the last time id been connected to Wifi - add others have said, disconnecting and then reconnecting to Wifi will bring the message up once online again. I uninstalled a few apps that errr perhaps shouldn't have been there lol. Still same problem. While reading this thread I tried a few of the suggestions and problem persisted. However I then uninstalled wakelock defender (an app I installed last week with no problems). I know not everyone will have this app but it's solved my problem. I think it may be an app which works better with root which is why I thought of it after reading.

My Note 3 is UK unlocked and not rooted.
 
This started on mine since the last update which was 2 or 3 days ago. Have all you others updated before this occurred? If not, it must be something embedded in the device or a well hid virus. Something must be causing this?
 
My phone has never had an update because I rooted it the day I got it and I had the problem. It's obvious that something either google or samsung did caused this so there should be an update coming to fix it. For now the only sure fix is to freeze all of the different parts of knox. You just have to be rooted to do that.
 
For me, the Prevention Information notification comes on whenever I turn on Wi-Fi.

Cycled it a couple of times, Wi-Fi is the on-switch for that nag notification.

Looking at the data useage, it appears Samsung Hub and Samsung Apps clocked the most time. Something Samsung is bleeding.

Non-rooted Note 3 user here as well... Kinda ridiculous that it can tell you there's a problem with an app, yet won't tell you specifically what app its referring to.
 
Hi, I'm new in this forum, such a great place for Android Users.

Seems that this trouble is a worldwide issue; and it's not related to a downloaded app. I'm from Mexico, got my Note 3 last saturday (SM-N900W8) and since it was out of the box (without installing any app) It showed that annoying message.

I thought it was the software that the operator (Telcel) preloaded to the phone, but now, I see it's a generalized issue.

I saw in many spanish forums a theory that sugests it may be related to a change in the "google settings" icon which suddenly appeared in gray color.
 
Today I decided to try putting a box over my head. I could no longer see the offending icon so it must have worked. Then again, I couldn't see anything. Unfortunately, the fix was short lived. I just so happened to be at work and my boss told me to take the box off of my head. Being big into that whole corporate speak thing, she told me I need to think outside of the box. :p

Interesting. I had not noticed this change until you mentioned it. Last time I remember looking at this icon, it was green. I can't seem to find the app listed anywhere in the Play Store (where I seem to remember getting it for previous phones but not this one) which means I can't see if it auto updates, which it must, and when. That's looking like a likely culprit though.

fyi i have done a very costly factory reset. it did not solve the problem.
 
just an update on my situation.

the "prevention" notification was a little more than an annoyance because it didn't allow me to connect to my wifi and was using up my 3g data.

i had tried all the suggestions that was posted in this forum (and others). i had also did a hard factory reset. none of it worked. i just gave up. then just the other day.. i noticed it stopped without any intervention from me. go figure.

I followed this advice yesterday, and it seemed to work, although I was worried about not being able to get Amazon apps (you have to tick the unknown sources).

Still no warnings this morning. I then ticked the "unknown sources" to download an Amazon app, expecting the warnings to return. However, I am pleased to say that the warning has not returned, and I was able to download Amazon apps. Thanks, gertroid!!

As a brief explanation, Android is based on an operating system called Linux and in that OS 'root' is a process to allow administrative privileges. The same thing applies to Android. A rooted phone is one that has been altered to enable the user to get access to those files and areas of the device that are usually locked down and off limits to the user.

Having root access can be dangerous and if you don't know what you are doing and you subsequently start messing about with the inner workings of the phone, you could potentially cause it to be permanently useless. The chances are that the average normal user won't ever need to have a rooted device anyway. There are many forums on here and elsewhere (XDA Developers is the home of the Android rooters, for instance) that give more information. An unrooted phone is purely one that remains with the stock system privileges granted by the manufacturer. Usually an unrooted device is one that has stock firmware.

Some manufacturers will refuse to complete warranty work on a rooted device, especially if it can be shown (or they can tenuously make it show) that the rooting process caused the warranty failure.

Since disabling the 2 ANT apps >settings>general>application manager>all
And unchecking "verrify apps" in google settings app I have not had the pop up, three days now. I have used various wifi and rebooted the phone and it's not come back.
I have not got Knox installed and not rooted. Just straight out of the box.
 
It's basically just an annoyance, yes it is Knox related and yes it is a bug.

Many of we Note 3 users are asking "What is Knox ?" or questions of that ilk. Now for me who also has an SGS4 I know, it was "foisted" on to us with an update and a locked bootloader. Note 3 owners have had Knox since unboxing their new device.

May I suggest you read this thread, it is totally applicable to all devices with Knox. It was started and is written primarily by senior member Ironass (who is well respected and knowledgeable - but don't tell him I said so !)

Out of nothing more than sheer curiosity, mainly because this is only an annoyance, I've spent way more diagnostic time than I would normally. I get the same alert message as everyone else that's experiencing this. In addition I'm experiencing this exact same thing on the two Note 3 models I own, one on AT&T and the other on T-Mobile.

The culprit? The Knox Notifier.

Because I've left them unrooted, loading apps exclusively from the play store, there's no chance it's app related.

Unfortunately Knox cannot be uninstalled or turned off as these phones come straight from their respective carriers, so I'm doing my best to just ignore the issue at this point.

There's simply too many wonderful features in this highly useful phone to let the issue negatively impact my opinion of this terrific smartphone.

No phone is perfect, but the Note 3 is far closer than any of the phones I've owned thus far. :)
 
Has anyone seen the following error message? I only seem to get it when i join a wifi network. The message doesnt specify which app was closed or why.

I moved your question to the forum dedicated to discussing your phone.

You could try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them). If the problem stops you will know it is caused by an app that you added. See next message.
