Yes true, but rooting your Note 3 will possibly trip the Knox flag, and end end warranty you had instantly. Knox is a brilliant attempt by Samsung to get into the lucrative corporate market, but makes it a complete bind for people like myself who routinely Root their devices and flash custom ROMs. The click for don't show for 30 days option is the only way to stay notification free and have an intact warranty.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers, but is there anyone who got their N3 from Verizon that is having this issue?
I've yet to see this error on my N3.
I don't have Knox as an app in the app drawer, but there are four (possibly more) Knox items in my app mgr/all: KLMS Agent, KNOX, Knox Notification Manager, and Knox Store.
I've not touched any of them.

It is an odd error. I am on Vodafone UK firmware. It is pretty much "stock" with added carrier bloatware that can be unistalled. I have not had any updates, touched the Knox shortcut in the app drawer and all my apps come from the Play store. Yet I got it over the weekend, and yes it was connecting to free Wi-Fi that seemed to activate it. Now all connections from mobile data to Wi-Fi trigger it. I've turned it off by tapping the do not show for 30 days option. An odd bug if ever there was one.

So you weren't getting it until you connected to an open (insecure) access point, or was there a pass-phrase you had to enter in order to connect? Have you "forgotten" that AP?

It was a Subway (they of the sandwich) store that has free Wi-Fi from "The Cloud". Basically you access it with an email address and a password. You get free Wi-Fi, they get to spam the email address.
It opens the browser when you click to log on from the notification drawer. The landing page is the log on screen. You leave it open in a tab/window and use a another tab to surf.

I could probably duplicate that process, but I don't want to start something I can't finish/fix.
I guess the next question: Are those who are getting the error, connecting to open wifi access points?

As for forgetting the AP, no it has always been there since I first logged on to "the cloud" free Wi-Fi. It's the same AP for any of "The Cloud's" locations. Here in the UK, Starbucks, McDonald's etc.
I think I see where your going with this. Does deleting the AP get rid of the warning. I can't test (for 28 days anyway), but I would think not, it has been used a fair bit in the past. I doubt it or any other open Wi-Fi AP would do it. It gave the warning when I walked in my house and it automatically switched from mobile data to my home network as well. This is secured with WPA2 password.

Yes, the very same one. I started getting the warning notification on accessing it Saturday and then whenever I automatically switched to my home Wi-Fi or any other (manual or automatic from mobile data). It is a most unusual bug, I cannot work out what I or any app has changed to trigger it.

The reason I ask that is that my HTC One updated to 4.3 today and in the Software Update page it has a tickbox saying "Auto Update." I know it's not a Note 3 but this wasn't there in 4.2.2 so I wonder if this option is in 4.3 across all platforms.
It seems odd that a Cloud WAP should suddenly report the error where it has never done so before. I would venture that it was the catalyst rather than the reason. Do you have any Knox processes running, irrespective of whether you have touched the Knox app at all? If so, have you tried stopping, clearing and disabling them, then ticking 'Unknown Sources?' Although you won't know if it works for 28 days of course

Excellent questions. In order: no updates whatsoever are allowed automatically, and none were received. I always allow unknown sources as a matter of course, but rarely these days, and never up to now have I side loaded any .apks to my Note 3.
I have noticed Auto update security is active (settings>general >security), this must be it, and it is just a coincidence that "The cloud" tripped it or was it's catalyst. Nothing "Knox" is running at all according to Application Manager.

I note from both the XDA thread and here that there are lots of theories but nothing has risen to the top yet as the most likely culprit. Let's hope we get to the bottom of this as soon as we can.
Things like this, whilst little more than a minor convenience, if combined, can add up to a less than stellar user experience for some people.

I've just had my second one (the first was about 12 days ago). My Note 3 is straight from Samsung and not related to any carrier. I haven't used any public wifi for about two weeks.
With all the phones exhibiting this problem from all different carriers regardless of firmware or software installed, you'd think people would just hit the 'don't show for 30 days' button and wait for the update. We may never really know what's causing the problem, but it definitely seems like samsung is to blame. They'll fix it.

Yes, we have to put up with it, but I doubt very much it'll just be for now. I feel it is here to stay.
Those who have simply ticked the "donot remind me for 30 days" have the right idea, but I still inwardly seethe about Knox, particularly on my SGS4 that never had it until a firmware update. Samsung don't do change logs to let we mere customers know what to expect.
