Help Annoying prompt when enabling gps!

I get that too. How would you enable GPS? Metro says the service is not included in the $55 plan.

Say what? GPS is built into the phone and doesn't even use network data by itself, although nav apps will use the network to download maps and route info. You absolutely CAN use GPS with the $55 plan.
What they might have been referring to is Metro Navigator which is Metro's proprietary nav app. According to the plan details, use of this app is not included and is an extra-cost option. This really doesn't matter since the phone already comes with Google nav and there are plenty of other nav apps (both free and paid) available in the Play store.

As for the stupid prompt, I'm guessing that's some legalese thing they decided they had to add in ICS and I don't think there is any way to get rid of it. Any of the toggle apps or widgets from the market will bring you to the same prompt.

This is great news to me. I have owned an android tablet for some time but this is my first android phone coming from the Samsung Code which was a Windows phone with no GPS. So being the noob I am at this I'll have to ask how would you enable GPS in this phone?

i get this as well. same thing happened on my connect whenever i activated the wifi locations service or turned off background data.

It's in the settings, also any app that uses it will prompt you to enable it if it's not already on when you open the app. There are also apps and widgets (including the built-in power bar) that give you direct access to the GPS setting, although unfortunately as mentioned above it's no longer a one-click toggle in ICS like it was in previous Android versions.

Where? On Location services? The only enabled option I have there is the last one which is Location and Google search. What else do I need to enable there? GPS satellites? Google Location Service? Use assisted GPS is grayed out.

There's a widget that manages wifi, bluetooth, gps, mail synch and brightness.

It runs as a bar across the screen. You can use that.

OR

You can use the pull down menu and its at the top of that too - but you may have to scroll left/right to see it.

Either way bypasses the "advisory message" found in Settings.

Navigator is an included item in the $55 plan. If its not, I'll fight tooth and nail to get a refund, because there is no warning at all when you use it.

I regularly use Navigator, and Maps... can't really do without 'em. Two things got me into using Android a year ago: GPS services, html web services. If I didn't have those, a 1995 brick phone would do.

Nevermind. Once I agreed with that obnoxious prompt I enabled everything and now GPS works. I guess just need to enable this whenever I need driving directions which is not that often. :P

Crossposted, lol. Thank you, cjbandroid. I opened Maps and it looked great! Wonder what's the difference between that and the Navigation blue arrow icon and Latitude.

My understanding is Maps is more "here and now", Navigator is more "getting from here to there" and Latitude... is letting everyone else know where you are (for the birds if you ask me!)

Thanks, seems that I should try Navigator too, no use for Latitude though, lol.

Interesting, because I downloaded it from the Metro store and when I ran it I got a message that it isn't included in my plan and I needed to subscribe to use it. So I just uninstalled it.
If you look on Metro's site at the details for the unlimited plan, Navigator is not shown as included but as an additional feature at $3/month.
