Help Annoying task bar

Is there any way to customize the task bar on the Incredible 2? I hate that it shows me those tasks at the top. Can I turn that off?

not that this helps much, but i felt the same way and i got used to it rather quickly, though i am still interested in the same thing. i have never used it, ever. i find long pressing home is alot easier. but the pause button on music, and the hang up button for phone calls its convienent though

I can see how they would be useful - if you could access them. The scrolling list of running apps is so big that if I have more than three notifications they are hidden at the bottom of the screen and you have to scroll through them. Of course I'm also used to the screen size of the Droid X but still, real estate is limited here, people, let me use it like I want!
Of course once this things gets rooted all of that will be customizable, I'm sure.
