Three options not discussed here so far, but ad nauseum in other posts:
1. Delete the bloat.
2. Freeze the bloat/processes.
3. Rename the bloat.
All require root - this can be a big deal for some people, but so far I've never had a problem using the OneClick methods available.
Option 1 frees up space for more apps, but can be a problem if you delete something and find out later you shouldn't have. Then you're scrambling for someone to send you the app, or factory resetting the thing (if you haven't paid for a backup app).
Option 2 and Option 3 don't free up any space on your phone, but allow you to unfreeze/re-rename bloat/processes if you find out later (like I did) that some app no longer works correctly and you get force closes on Messaging (never figured that one out either. I just unfroze everything and started over.)
Option 3 requires Android SDK, a laptop, and a few commands. I did this when I had 2.1 and it was pretty straight forward, but when I got 2.2 and it wiped all that out I just paid $0.99 for a bloat freezer.
