In the end, the email program that came pre-installed in the A500 is totally a waste of time for many reasons but deleting messages / emptying trash is the most significant (one at a time is a time killer).. Since I have a Samsung tablet (unlike my wife's A500), the email program that came installed in it works just fine.. Are these email programs designed and installed by the different mfgs or are they off the shelf programs they decided to use.. In my case, I should have bought my wife the same tab I have (Samsung) so I could help her with it.. QUESTION.. is there anyway to get the email program that came installed in the Samsung 10.1 so I can put it in the A-500?.. As a last resort I will install K-9 in her tab but that means that I have to learn another system to keep her happy.. I am getting confused as it is having to operate and maintain phones, tabs, desktops and laptops with Android 2.2, Android ICS, Windows Vista, Windows 7. op systems.. .

The Iconias come with two email apps, and both are stock Android apps from Google. One is the Gmail app that supports Gmail only, and the other is the generic stock email client app that supports POP3, IMAP, and Exchange email. If I understand correctly, you would prefer to use something other than the stock general purpose Android email client app.
You could copy the .apk file for the favored email app from the Samsung to the Iconia and try to install it there. I don't see any reason why that would not work, unless the app was customized to work only on the Samsung.
One easy way to do this is to use ES File Explorer to backup the app, which saves a copy of the associated .apk file to backup/apps under your internal storage. Look for the backup button on the menu bar at the top of the screen. After running the app backup, just copy that file from under backup/apps to the Iconia using an SD card or USB stick, and then open the file there to install the app. Note that some apps cannot be backed up using this method, so if you cannot find it in the backup listings, that may be the issue.

I used the file app on my Samsung Galaxy to try and backup the email program app that I like BUT... the installed email app that came on the Galaxy does not show up on the list of available apps that can be backed up.. It is no where to be found.. any ideas??? Thanks for your response and help..
