ANOTHER freaking data outage? Seriously?

Yes, it is a lot to expect that when I pay $200 a month for a service, the service actually works. If this happened with any other service I have, there would be a refund issued for downtime (just ask; TV, internet, home phone, etc). They advertize 99.9% up time and if they are at fault for you losing service, they'll give you some $ for the inconvenience. Cell phone providers dont care, and consumers have come to accept their $*** as the norm. They dont even have to give you working equipment anymore, they wash their hands of you after your contract has been signed. The unfortunate part of this is that society has turned to the point where cell phones are a must. Many jobs are requiring an immediate method of contacting you now, regardless of where you are, so home phone service doesnt cut it.

Doesn't it seem like data outages are a common occurence around the release of the Hottest Newest Best 4G Phones?

Call in and get your dollar credit then.

It'd be more than a dollar, Verizon doesnt do it anyways, really good companies will issue a credit without you requesting it, and if it happens more than twice a month, I've had companies give me a free month. It's called good customer service.

$30 per month / 31 days in december X however many hours of down time. you do the math. $1 would be MORE than you should expect. call and get your LESS than $1 credit if it do ya.

also, it was only 4G outage. 3G was not affected. the last I checked, VZW doesn't require you to pay more for 4G service. so, technically, you still had service since your device either connected to 3G automatically, or you could have changed it manually.

and Verizon doesn't auto credit pretty much any network outages. I don't know any company that does. it's in the contract that people so readily refer to that service is NOT guaranteed. here's a quote from the contract, found on vzw.com- "If you're a Postpay customer and you lose Service in your Coverage Area for more than 24 hours in a row and we're at fault, call us within 180 days and we'll give you a credit for the time lost." There is more, but that part is the most related to this issue.

folks need to understand that isht happens. I pay $350/mo for my motorcycle. does that mean I should NEVER expect it to have problems or require maintenance? according to you "I pay $XXX per month so I demand perfect service" people, then yes... I should never expect that anything should ever happen.

It was more than just a 4g outage. Data was entirely gone for quite a few hours. Just setting the record straight...

Before you assume that it's a data outage every time your phone doesn't have a data connection, do this simple thing a VZ tech supporter told me, as it may be the phone.
He called this a work around.

go to:

settings

wireless and networks

mobile networks (at bottom of list)

network mode

select CDMA only

Turn phone off for a minute

Reboot phone

repeat steps to turn 4G-LTE back on.

Once you have toggled 4G back on, the data connection should be fine. (unless the network truly is down)

I lose 3G all the time, pretty frustrating when I NEED the browser or I try to send a GTalk message.

This... I'm not new to the 4G outages, I'm fine with losing 4G because I roll with 3G 99% of the time just to save on battery life. But 3G drops nearly every time 4G goes down in the Dallas area. It's not the phone either, my wife's iPhone loses 3G as well and no amount of resets or toggling the settings brings it back.

For the haters, we're paying $80 for just data plans, again, it's more than $1 a day. Next time you may want to take your "ass"umptions and stick them where they belong. And there are good companies that auto-refund money for service downtime, Netflix and Dish have both done this and Time Warner refunded a month when a repeater was botched for a week.
