Help another music question

this has to be the most frustrating thing about the GS3. i have all my music on device... i use (mostly) GoneMad Music player. i can play music in airplane mode (and no wifi) which i assume confirms music is on my device. i went to level some music so i cut and pasted my music folder from the GS3 to my desktop - well, it shows each folder as empty. has all the bands folder s but the folders are empty. i cut and put it back on phone (never edited or changed name of parent 'music' folder, yet all my music is now gone. i rescaned sd card- still no music. i hooked phone back up to computer via usb and searched phone for *.*mp3 and nothing came up! where the heck did my music go??? i've moved music back and forth via usb and desktop before but this was the first time it showed empty.
i rebooted phone and rescanned sd - still nothing. music does appear in stock google player which i assume means it's in cloud - i can select keep on device ,but it appears i would need to do that song by song!!

am i missing something here?? any advice, help would be apprecaited!!

ok - further info. i went to stock music player and 'pinned' music to phone- 'keep on device'. artist by artist for my entire library. it took a while to download it all. i then put in airplane mode and shut off wifi and confirmed all my music is on device and plays via stock player. yet it still does not show up on phone anywhere! my music folders are all empty when i search them via astro file manager. i played a song and then searched for the song via astro and it comes up with nothing!

so, no wifi, no 3g/4g on. stock player says music is on device (and i can play it via stock even with wifi, 3g off) yet it does not show up on other players (gonemad or zplayer). i've rescanned SD card, i've rescanned database with gonemad and still nothing!

i'm going nuts- what am i missing.... besides all my music! any help would be so appreciated!
