If I do the "turn your phone into a 3d" thingy does that mean that I'll be able to run all kernels and roms on the evo 3d?

i wouldnt say "all", but a vast majority as far as i know

It is not neccessary to do the "turn your phone into a 3D" anymore if you have the latest firmwares, I.E. 1.14, radio 1.09

You only need to change the hboots to run certain roms. Check which roms are compatible with your 1.57 hboot. Lower to 1.50.5050 if you want to run GB roms, or jelly bean roms.
