Root Another OTA Update... version 4.4.4

Hey guys, I just got an over the air update for Android os 4.4.4, man are they gona churn out updates every 2 weeks now, LOL? I just updated about 2 weeks ago to 4.4.3

Can anyone point me in the direction of the change log for 4.4.4?

I did notice that after I updated to 4.4.3 that my signal has gotten way weaker, sometimes I can only make emergency calls, I have to restart my phone to get my signal back and still then I only have 1 bar.... I hope this version fixes it.

Does anyone know where to send these bug reports that I get so Google can see them and how can we let Google know what our Google branded (bought from Google) Nexus 5 phones are doing?

TIA

4.4.4 contains security fixes to Open SLL and a new radio. Thats really about it.

Let me do some digging around to find the flash-able zip others have used.

Flashing this from recovery should work:

You may have to flash your Superuser.zip file as well to maintain root access.

Remember when I tried to flash 4.4.3 and it didn't work for me, I did the OTA update for 4.4.3 and it worked great (although I did have to reinstall the TWRP Recovery). Do you think this flashable zip will give me the same problem? I see that the OTA is only 2.5mb

I hope this update fixes my radio (signal) problem!?

Thanks man!

This time I gave you the link for the OTA.zip, not the full ROM. Its the same file your phone downloads when it looks for the OTA.

So you can either accept the OTA, or flash that from recovery. Both are the same in this instance ,;)

I have a basic question about the update.. I'm rooted on 4.4.2 but would rather not take the update right now. How do I get rid of the update notification? It is always in my notification bar and won't go away. Thx in advance for any help.

Hi Maxwelbd!
Give this a try -

It's pretty easy... Just download and install, "Disable Service" app from the play store. Open the app, then go to "system apps/Google Services Framework/" and un-check "System Update Service". You could also edit it manually with a root browser.

Yeah I noticed that, thanks man! The last ota update I did it got rid of TWRP Recovery so I think I will do the flash zip file this time (I hope it works, last one have me an error)...

Did anyone find a change log? :pcguru:

Hi thanks for the reply. Tried the App, but when I went into the Google Services Framework, the SystemUpdateService box was already unchecked and I still have the notification.

I'm not real confident to try and find/edit the right file, so I'll keep searching for another solution. Thx

Looks like a temp solution is to go into Settings/Apps/Google Play Services... Uncheck "Show Notifications"..

This got rid of the notification. Then I turned it back on, so it may return the next time Google pushes the update, we shall see.

PS. I also tried the App System Tuner and messed with both Google play services and Google Services Framework, neither worked.

I flashed the zip file from the newest version of TWRP and everything worked fine! I still have root also but I do have the paid version of SuperSU and it has the option to keep root over ota updates but it also worked with flashing.... B-)

Thanks all!

Hey guys, what is this Android Version L that I keep seeing? Will we get another update for it?

I believe they're currently touting the Android version as "L" instead of a number...

I'd be very surprised if the N5 did not receive an Android L OTA at some point in the future, especially given that they've (Google) released the system image preview for the N5 (and the N7):

:)
