Root Another "stuck root" problem

To start, I searched the forums and didnt see an answer to my issue.
I rooted my phone using Scotty85 guide and all went well. Im attempting to flash ICS to my phone. I have the zip file on my SD card as verified by reading the card on my PC. I powered up my phone via vol down and power. Selected recovery and all i get in the center of the screen is a pic of a phone with a red triangle intertwined with a red exclamation point. Doesnt seem good. I powered back down and the phone works as previously rooted. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

John

the red triangle is the stock recovery,so im assuming you followed directions to temporarily install recovery, wich there is nothing wrong with. :)

if you want to have a permanent recovery, youll need to follow the directins to permanently flash it in step 2.

you do not need do permanently flash recovery to flash roms, however. all you need to do is boot to fastboot(via power on/vol down then choose fastboot OR via "adb reboot bootloader" in a cmd window) and then "fastboot boot" your recovery image again.

*i reccomend to fastboot boot your recvery each time, even if you chose to keep it permanently installed. doing so will let you restore nandroids without having to seperately flash the kernel.

hope that helps :)
