Accessories antenna for shift?

Hello, I have been looking for a way to increase my signal strength as I live in a strange area. My house is directly between a roaming and sprint tower so my phone switches back and fourth constantly making it hard for me to keep a steady internet connection. I have a cell ranger which actually does help a little giving me average 2 bars extra but still its an omni-directional antenna which still gives me the switching problem. I have been looking at directional antennas to try to get this to work better and am just curious if anybody has any input that may help me out. Thank you in advance

Call Sprint and ask them about the Airave. They usually charge, but given that you have service that's constantly blinking on roam, costing them money, they might see their way clear to providing one for free - they've been known to do that in extreme cases, as I recall.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Unfortunately I can't get broadband internet out here. I have satellite internet now and thats about the best I can get.

I heard the 1.5mm headphone jack can be used for an antenna but i wasnt sure. I was thinking about buying an 8-10 db directional antenna and splicing it to work off the cell ranger but i was just looking for some ideas.

The headphone wiring is used for the FM radio.

Oh, so really theres nothing short of some sort of repeater or amplifier.

hmmm i guess next step just gnna buy a cheapish 8-10db directional antenna splice it and splice that into my cell ranger

Have you considered to just turn off rooming while at home?
