Root AnthraX Kernel Updated

Release 17 of the ButteredToast kernel has been posted on XDA and includes some enhancements from the recent updates to Anthrax. From the changelog:

- RLS17:
RNG: added frandom support, you will need to install crossbreeder or similar to use.
CPU: linaro power patch. Even though its openly available, I got it from Chad Goodman.
CPU: corrected the CPU table and documented each line for clarity (Thank you chad for info)

I'm guessing that we'll being seeing this version in BluROM real soon. ;)

Anthrax kernel has always had the best sound for me. I'm glad the latest BT is incorporating some more stuff from Anthrax.

Has anyone been able to set the max clock setting at above 1620MHz for Anthrax during installation?

I could never do that. It would always bootloop.

Anthrax+Blurom, what happens when we lit two roadrunners' tails on fire? :dancing:

BigWilly told me that Blurom was originally tweaked around Anthrax. The two were made for each other.

However, since Nega can't distribute Anthrax with his ROM (I assume), he's gone with Buttered Toast instead. I wonder if the ROM has been re-optimized around BT.

Hey Ramjet, I know...I should ask him :p

EDIT:

I admire their security policy. The only place I've ever logged in to their forum was off my PC, so the password is remembered by the browser. I just tried to login from my office for the first time, but I can't recall my password. After 5 failed attempts, you can't try again for 15 minutes...which is typical of many places. What I found awesome is that an email is immediately sent to you stating:

Dear Palmetto Fellow,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Anthrax Development - Home of the first custom shooter ICS kernel with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: XX.XXX.XX.X

All the best,
Anthrax Development - Home of the first custom shooter ICS kernel

Anthrax and BT are nearly identical except there are some stuff that are exclusively for Anthrax.

They are similar but definitely not identical, BT is gpl compliant while Anthrax has proprietary HTC code especially concerning audio that can't have source released because it was given to Chad under a NDA.

thats what gives Anthrax its awesome sound quality :D

The kernel update works great with Nega's Blue Rom. I tried it with PacMan and all I get is a black screen at boot up. Not sure what I did wrong if anything. Before anyone asks, Nega was running on hboot 1.58 and Pacman is running on 1.50.

Any ideas?

I know PacMan can run Anthrax, look at the first post in the OP. :D

Should PM him for how. As I recall, it cannot be installed through Aroma. You would have to flash it in fastboot or something.

I covered the differences in this post.

The most significant feature Anthrax has over ButteredToast is the improved audio drivers and most of the rest involve fine tuning of the performance, so it is more likely to cause reboots while tweaking it.
