I Have been using Cleanmaster .I just checked into Mcafee and they also offer a free antivirus /phone finder feature.Pretty much both have same features .
Any suggestions on which one to use or opinions on both:rolleyes:

You don't necessarily have to use an AntiVirus if you download from the PlayStore because Google does a pretty good job keeping out malicious applications.

However, if you are really concerned about it, I really like Malwarebytes. I use it on my computer all the time and if I am ever concerned about something on my phone, I will use it there too.

What about downloading files from the internet? PDF doc? word doc? spam email? you hit the wrong link?

I'm careful about what I download, and Android is more secure than my laptop running Windows. I have never gotten a virus or malware on any of my phones.

There's NO active Linux or Android viruses. NONE. There is some malware, yes. Viruses are a type of malware, but not all malware is a virus. That's very important distinction to keep in mind. Viruses are a much more serious problem than other types of malware.

Instead of antivirus apps, install Common Sense. Use it at all times. Only install apps from the Play Store or completely trustworthy sources.

Relax and enjoy your device.

Malicious docs, PDFs, JPGs, etc. Which would be code injection exploits. It wouldn't happen on Android, simply because it doesn't assume they're executable and try to run them, unlike Windows. The only way to make Android run arbitrary code is to deliberately install it via an APK.

As mikedt said Android/Linux does not run coded files unless they are in the format of an app/binary

Most doc's that have malicious code are done by the way of macro's Those are a Windows nightmare

As others have said, antivirus is almost useless on Android because the OS is not like Windows. The only bad thing that can run is a bad app (APK file) that you intentionally install. You're not going to get a virus (like on a PC) by clicking on a link or opening a document or something.) If you install an app from trustworthy sources, like Google Play or Amazon, then you don't have to worry. If you install a malicious APK from an untrustworthy place, then it's not clear that an antivirus app could do much to help you because I don't think those antivirus companies have the resources comb the web testing every APK that is posted.
