Antivirus

Do i need Antivirus ?

Well, the word "need" may be related to how you use your device than if Android itself is vulnerable to virus (and malware, etc) exploits. Google Play Store is so open now, despite their efforts to close off naughty programs, that yes, virus and malware activity is occasionally downloaded and run on user Android devices.

Here's an excellent article that covers things from several aspects.

Do you need antivirus on Android? We ask the experts | Digital Trends

I don't use an anti-virus app or program, but I look carefully at the company/developer who produces the apps/widgets I want on my devices, prior to dowloading and installing.

The danger is relatively low, as compared to Windows for example (Android runs on a Linux branch, to over simplify).

I agree with KBBRU. I use AVG anti virus and it checks (or at least says it does) all the apps that I download. I also run the program about twice a month to insure no virus is present.

I guess you don't ever know if any virus program works totally. This one seems to work well and is not in the way, it doesn't bother you at all.

Viruses on Android are just myth. If they did exist, they would need access to root to be able to do anything. But that's why we have the superuser app, so nothing gets access to root without your permission ;)
