Any decent navigation apps that also display current Speed?

Newbie
Looking for a decent navigation app that will also show the current speed. I have an older car so this is a must have feature for me lol.

Thanks for any and all suggestions! I'm currently using a Samsung Epic that is rooted.

I would prefer to use Google Navigator, I'd like to see an app that simply adds a speedometer to the existing display while in Navigator. I know, I'm crazy.

You'll have to clarify exactly what you mean by "decent". It's a highly subjective term. What other features are must haves?

What about Gps Essentials? Its free and displays actual speed and ETA etc...
But what I am not sure about is voice guidance. Cheers!!!
 
speedometers on cars are generally off by +/- 2-3mph. that doesnt sound like much but in a state that 9 over is a zero point ticket, 2-3 mph could be worth a few hundred dollars.
As long as the GPS is properly working, it will ALWAYS be more accurate than the speedo on the car

And GPS units are off by the amount of time delay you have in receiving the data.

I agree with most - this is kind of a non-issue.

LOL, I figured someone would point that out. Yes it is an older car, currently the speedo doesn't work (complicated process to fix which I hope to do in the coming months as it warms up). However previous owner had a transmission rebuild done and the speedo has been off ever since. It varies from 3-7 miles an hour so have the GPS with a speed icon is helpful.

I currently use Speedview Pro which is fantastic for what it does, but if I need the navigation aspect for going to a new destination I can't see both at the same time.

That makes sense ^^^
 
Navspeed puts a speedometer reading in your status bar, so you can be running google nav and have current speed showing in your status bar. Best I was ever able to find that works with google nav.

Hi, there is a great app for speed cam warnings that does what you want and more, but it costs 59p.

It is called cameralert.

Trapster is better and it is free. I have been using it for a few years now and it has a huge user base that constantly updates not only speed cams, but also pigs sitting on the side of the road clocking people.

Navigon is Awesome, but it is on the expensive side. It does what you are looking for perfectly though
 
So what is the nav system that comes on verizon phones. Is it google based since everything else is on the phone? Sorry im smartphone dumb, thats why im here:).

Well, Verizon offers VZ Navigator, which is similar to Google Navigation. However, there are differences. VZ Nav is $9.99 a month for most phones, though it does offer point of interest searching, gas prices, etc. However, Google Nav is free, and there are countless free apps (like Where) that do POI searches free as well.

Places, which is also part if google maps does poi also
 
Oh well, I have the unlimited data plan and have been using it alot here lately and they havnt charged me yet. I use the one thats the blue arrow, not the one that says vz navigator. Is there a diff, i have never tried the vz navigator< but the one thats just the blue arrow works pretty dang good for me?

Biggest difference is google nav (the one you are using) is free, vz navigator is $9.99 a month
