Any downside from buying Charge from Amazon

What are downsides of buying the Charge from Amazon? They have it for $129, which is $170 less than Verizon. I don't want to port my number over from Sprint until I know that i will have good VZ service in my home. Basically, i would like to:

1. buy phone from Amazon for $129 (new customer, new line)
2. verify i like the phone and VZ service
3. port number from Sprint to VZ

Will it be this smooth?

That's exactly what I did minus Amazon.

Bought at Costco with a temporary number, used it for a week side-by-side with my old phone then called them up and ported my number over.

The only downside would be if you needed to exchange your phone. I had to exchange mine twice, first one had a line across the screen and the second one had a buzzy speaker.

I found dealing with amazon to be excellent! Lots of info ahead of time and support when my camera on my Charge crashed. Phone replaced overnight. I'd do it again.
