Any HDR possible?

Hi,

I'm moving from an iphone 4 to a Galaxy S2. I'm wondering if the camera has the HDR (high dynamic range) feature that's already built into the iphone. This is a very important feature for me.

If not, will it be in ICS or is there a 3rd party app that does HDR as well as the iphone 4?

There's no HDR for the default Camera but there are a few applications which allow you to take such photos. Not sure if they are free or how good they are but they exist.

HDR camera has a free and a paid for app and camera 360 has a HDR option within it

HDR camera + does the best job out of all.. the other camera apps just have filters.. HDR camera+ actually takes 3 pics at different exposures and fuses them.. it gives a pretty good overall result.. the paid one is obviously better

i tried the paid app and the free version and didnt really see any difference in the results so kept the free one.

Its a good app though, really like some of the pics you can get from it.

Thanks, hopefully the exposures are quick or they'd be subject to movement in a handheld camera. This is a problem with the iphone. Is there an option to save the normal exposure too?

Hi

I use an app called camerax which is on the market - the dev has done a lot of good stuff on the Nokia N8 with a very similar app - CameraX allows from 3-5 bracketed shots to be taken automatically with option to change stops between +2 to -2. I have only had s2 for a couple of weeks and therefore have not tested app a lot. Loads of other features on app alos including focus ,frame burst etc and a form of jpeg raw output. This app does not fuse - you will have to fuse in photomatix or PS afterwards. I usually use some form of tripod for best results (gorillapod mobile)

if u hold it reasonably steady, the software does a good job of fusing the exposures, and the result is very good, generally. yes, there is an option to save the normal exposures too
