any Hockey fans?

^ great obvious statement.

perhaps you should worry about the invisible heatley or marleau or wellwood's big mouth. the nucks are banged up, but the better team ALWAYS wins so injuries dont matter. kesler is your biggest worry. the guy has been amazing so far! no matter if the sharks win or lose, just make sure heatley doesnt drive them home.

Bramsy...seriously dude, grow up. Lol. Let it go already. Pulling out the accident in Atlanta just shows how little class and respect for the game in general you have.

good explanation of what happened! its 100% relevant to my comment.

Yes, but your comment is irrelevant just like youve become in this thread. You can have the last word that obviously means so much. Enjoy it. lol.

On another note. Just under two hours till puck drop.

WTB remote so I can FF to game time!

i'm talking hockey with knowledge here pal, in no way is what i have said without basis.

calling me irrelevant just means that you dont want an opinion other than yours. its ok... homers are allowed

Win or lose...that was an interesting goal...did Lou get the assist?

He must have been taking puck handling lessons from Cory Schneider. He's only one behind him in assists on opposing goals.

Well, game 1 is in the books. I'm impressed with how the Canucks played with the lead in the third period. It took them two series to learn how to play with a third period lead and not blow it.

I'm impressed with the Canucks forwards. I thought the Sharks would have the edge in the forward lines. That third line of Lapierre, Hanson and Torres played the best I have seen them play in these playoffs. Henrik makes a miraculous recover from what everyone is speculating is some type of injury. Torres draws a stupid penalty instead of taking one himself. Burrows makes that great pass to Bieksa. Luongo is actually our worse player tonight due to his mistake playing the puck.

Niemi played really well. He made so many good saves early, especially in that mad scramble in and around the net. Clearly San Jose's best player and well deserved to be the #2 star. Thornton played well and was in on both San Jose goals. I didn't really notice any other San Jose players. I was keeping an eye on that "weasel" Wellwood who said that the Canucks were "afraid to lose" and didn't see anything of note from him.

It's only game 1 and I expect San Jose will come out harder in Game 2. This should be a great series. Even before the puck dropped in the opening face-off, you can see the intensity with all of that jostling in the face-off circle. This is a centre ice face-off we're talking about. You don't see that type of intensity in offensive zone face-off in other games.

I think Lidstrom is back next year personally, AND he's bringing home Norris number 7 this year. Honestly, watching him he's got three years left in his tank I think, but with his oldest son playing hockey in Sweden this year THAT is going to be the deciding factor, not his age, health, etc.

I'm still going with Tampa to win it all now this year. I think the Sharks will get by the Canucks in 7, Tampa is going to take the East in 5. Simply put, Tampa is the most dominate team playing right now, hands down.

If his son is the deciding factor, he could easily play for a team in Europe closer to home. I do hope he continues playing in the NHL. He still is able to play at a high level. Maybe he'll be inspired by Chris Chelios who played until he was like 46 or so.

He's got quite a bit left in his tank that is for sure. Frankly, I really hope he comes back. First off I think he's winning his seventh Norris this year, and he legitimately has a shot at one or two more to tie or surpass Bobby Orr.

Frankly though, its going to be a shame whenever he does retire. He really is one of the last pure defenseman in the league; and NOBODY has the hockey intelligence that he has.

If he stays around a few more years, he may be able to do what Gordie Howe did which is play along side his son if his son is good enough to play professionally. It's sad to see great players retire, but as long as their careers are not cut short due to injury, I feel no shame as I have had the opportunity to watch him play throughout his career.

On a side note, I still have the first ever NHL Hockey computer game for the PC. It has the rosters of the 1992-1993 season. Lidstrom is one of the few players in that game who are still active this year in the NHL. The others that I can think of are Roman Hamrlik, Mike Modano and Ray Whitney. Modano looks like he'll retire. Whitney and Hamrlik will probably be back next year. There is speculation that Jagr may be back in the NHL next season.

we've seen that

YouTube - Michigan hockey goal

bit different, but cool nonetheless

and thanks for that Jagr Ovi hit, never seen that for some reason

Someone (could have been the Czech Republic) bitched about that hit saying that hits like that have no place in the Olympics. Jagr should have had his head up, and on a swivel, like EVERY player with the puck should. That was always the best part of playing D was seeing a player on the ice who stared at the puck when they had it. You just itch for an entire game waiting to light their ass up and teach them a lesson.

Oh yeah, and Michigan still sucks. [wavy hand]

Agreed. Next they'll complain that you should be able to hit anyone who skates down the ice with his eyes closed. That was a great hit. OV came from the front and Jagr turned right into him.

guys the NHL is literally turning into the NoHitLeague. ever since Cindy got his concussion, some of the dumbest shit has been called. it was starting a tad before, but i have to get a Sid shot in there ;)

It think it was Cooke on Savard that started the change. Crosby's hit gets the publicity since he is the league's biggest star.

On another note, how about Tyler Seguin? He gets a goal in his first ever playoff game and gets 4 points tonight as Boston beats Tampa Bay in a wild 6-5 game.
