Root Any hope for my DX?

So I ralied my Dx pretty good. Only the Red X (GB start up) shows. I've tried holding down the power and home button = nothing. Battery pull does nothing. Now i'm working on a SBF I have RSD lite 4.9 pulled up with the 2.3.340 in the file name spot. usb cord hooked up only brings me to the red x start up..... any ideas on how i can save my phone?

I don't know much about RSD but i believe you have to be at the bootloader.

To do that you have to power the phone down and hold the volume up and the camera button then turn it back on.
When you see the screen flash you can let go of the volume up and camera button.

It was vol Down that got it to work.... Thanks for getting back to me quickly
