Any Incredible owners moving to the Thunderbolt?

So the Thunderbolt is on the Horizon. I really wanted this to be the device that 'wow'ed me away from the Incredible, but unfortunately it didn't. The only reason I am sad about that is I love new tech in my hands, but still happy with the current device in the meantime.

I do like:
  • The form factor
  • The size (increase)
  • It will have the most recent Sense UI
  • Has a front camera (though I am not sure how much I will video chat)
  • 4G!!!!!! (of course) :)

I just don't see it as much of an upgrade, especially with the processing power of the devices coming out likely around the same time.

I am guessing HTC's next Verizon Premier device will be worth the jump for me. I hate waiting!! :o

That said, who all is making the jump and what made you decide?

I just watched the hands-on video and noticed that sense still doesn't do landscape. Not sure why they won't do that. I may decide to go with it as an upgrade, but I want to see some real specs first.

Nope. Absolutely no reason for me to upgrade within the next year or so since I doubt I'll see 4g before then or even by then.

I like the thunderbolt, but I do not see myself leaving the Dinc so soon unless it is for something much bigger and more powerful. I am looking for a 4.5" to 6" screen. dual core snapdragon or better, and 1gig of ram. Also, a 1800mah+ stock battery would be ideal.

I just think the build quality will be better. thats my thing. if the bionic has unlokced bootloader itll be a toss up

Nope - no desire to look elsewhere. The 4.3" screen size, which I feel is a bit TOO large for my needs is what's kept me from looking further into the X, and it's the same primary reason keeping me from the 'Bolt. Also, from what I have read so far (and correct me if I am wrong, please), the 'Bolt won't even have an AMOLED screen, which I really like a lot. But, to each his own, and that's merely my two cents worth!

Whoa, that's crazy big!

That's what she said.

I use my phone as a tablet computer more than an actual phone(I spend 10 hours a day on a phone at work). I am looking for a true all in one device. I do not mind the bulk. I would carry around a 7" if someone would make it.

I would love another AMOLED device as well. I am not impressed with the EVO and Droid X display. (not bashing the devices themselves. Just personal preference)

Nope. not yet.

I'll wait for the 2 years of my contract, maybe more, and see what else is available then.

What about pricing for 4G plans? If Sprint stuck an extra $10 for 4G and the EVO (even when 4G wasn't available in your area) what would VZW do? Would I still have my unlimited data plan?

I feel like I'm going to find a new carrier when my contract runs out.

I think I will pass. The first reason is because I still have 18 months left on my contract so I am no where near an upgrade. And the second is that I do kinda miss having a hardware keyboard. Coming off 2 years with an EnV2 I still kinda miss its awesome keyboard. But I think that part of this is because, lets face it, the stock Android keyboard sucks. Maybe Gingerbread will change this. Will just have to wait and see. But as it stands right now, I think my next phone will have to have a physical keyboard.

And if Verizon ever gets the iPhone, like the rumors keep reporting, I might be looking at a new carrier. I can only imagine that adding probably hundreds of thousands of new iPhone users to a network that alreads has hundreds of thousands of Android users will put a massive strain of the system. Massive number of iPhone users + Massive number of Android users = massive data traffic. So if Verizon does get the iPhone it will be interesting to see how their network handles all the extra traffic.

Why would I want a MASSIVE 4.3" screen tablet? It cant even fit into a pocket. My friend has the Evo and he HATES it. Its so annoying carrying it around every where. Whats the point of having a phone that does not fit into your pocket...

I'm getting the Motorola Xoom instead. Using my Rooted Dinc to connect to the net via wireless tether when necessary.

I'd have to see how the signal strength is first. My Incredible gets no signal in my office, yet a Droid and Droid 2 get full bars.

You are aware that the keyboard on the Incredible is not the stock Android keyboard, right? It is a HTC keyboard. You can download the stock Gingerbread keyboard now and install it on your phone. It is somewhere on XDA forums, I am not sure exactly where. I am running it now and prefer it to the HTC keyboard.

the Tbolt looks great BUT there are some things missing from it. No HDMI out is a major minus. It seems like its just a bigger Inc.

At first I was OMG TB is my next phone but then I saw the Droid Bionic. I'm torn. The Bionic has amazing specs.

I have an upgrade in March. Hopefully they will both be released by then. I won't have to make a decision until March. Who knows what will be available by then.

Well everyone has their own opinions on size, remember they're opinions, no one is right or wrong.

Personally, I use my Dinc for so many things throughout the day: email, browsing, podcasts, videos, ereader, navigation, etc., that I really would like and use the extra screen real estate of a 4.3" screen. I love everything else about the Dinc (besides battery life) so that's why I was ready to upgrade to the T-Bolt before CES. But now that I see the Bionic, and even LG and Samsung debut 4.3" devices, I'll probably wait it out a little longer to see if any of them are real winners or losers. It seems like the T-Bolt isn't that much of a step forward compared to some other newly announced phones, but that doesn't bother me as much. I'm kind of bummed they removed HDMI out, I would have liked to try that out.

BTW, am I the only one that doesn't care about 4G at all? It will be more expensive, it will be worse on battery life, and I don't really need the extra speed boost over 3G, which is already fast enough for me and I am usually on WiFi most of the day anyways.

I'm going for either the TB or the bionic if boot loader is unlocked I think. The thing is, my area doesn't get 4g yet, so I wonder how pricing will be, will we have to pay for something we aren't capable of using, or just charged when in 4g area?

For my next phone I would want:
3.7" - 4.0"
Dual-core
1 GB RAM
front and rear camera
OPTICAL TRACKPAD!!!

I initially liked the thunderbolt and was going to buy it, but I think I am going to pass on it. I like the bionic more but do not like Moto's skin. I effing hate it!

I hate how there was no decent phone with a 3.7" screen.. I want a phone that I can use with one hand! And I don't understand why they are ditching the trackpad. It is so useful. I use it ALL THE TIME. It makes texting and selecting text a breeze! I can't see myself using a phone without a trackpad anymore, yet no phone has it anymore...

I hope someone is able to make a phone with these specs.. Otherwise I will have to settle with a half tablet phone (4.3") -_-

You can also try OTHER keyboards from the market (or elsewhere). I'm personally a fan of swype, but there are many other options.

Wow it seems that HTC really shot themselves in foot when they created the DInc... because from the sounds of it very few plan on moving from the DInc.
Which is quite "Incredible" :D sorry it has been forever since someone has done that lol
