Any N1 owners tried the Vibrant????

I did, and it made me appreciate my nexus even more. Lag galore, very light and cheap feeling, did not like touchwiz at all. I was up for an upgrade and though 199 was no brainer. Well im returning it today to my local RS and will stick with my trusty nexus.

Just thought i would post this to anyone who is a current N1 owner thinking about the vibrant. IMO, I would stick with your nexus.
 
i compared them in the store.. i like my nex way better. it pulled the pages faster each time i tried it. Im sure the vibrant will get better with 2.2 but for now ill take my nex
 
Vibrant will get even buggyer with 2.2.. if it ever gets there muhaha :D had to do it... Samsung firmwares are total crap. The only way Samsung Galaxy S line will get better is with Cyanogen ROM :D if they make it work together. Since the Galaxy S line hardware drivers seem to be open source... it won't be hard.
 
My brother got the Vibrant, and neither of us noticed any speed difference. The light weight is a pro for him, not a con.
 
I cannot advise people enough, stay away from samsung phones there their firmware support is totally crap.

I had there so called flagship i8910 when it first came out and they seriously never supported it. I hate them and will only buy their tvs.

I dunno, they make other appliances that are pretty good... Won't touch one of their phones though... :cool:
 
but if the galaxy can reach speeds like that with 2.1... it will potentialy be 3 times more when 2.2 comes.. u sure it's not 2.2 and that JIT is not present?
 
Yes. It says "StockRom Mod" and stock = 2.1. The build number indicates Eclair. I imagine the score is helped along by the powerful GPU, since QuadRant measures that too.
 
I went to the local TMobile store this afternoon and checked out the phone. Screen looks similar to my N1 but the phone feels light and a little cheap. I spoke to the manager of the store and he told me that out of all the phones he has carried, Samsung has the most complaints. Most customers eventually return their phones and have complaints about the quality of the phones. He suggested that anyone considering buying this phone wait a few weeks to see if there's any complaints about the quality of the product. He is weary of Samsung's track record with quality. I'm just passing along what the manager of the store told me.

P.S. He also told me that the fewest complaints are for the HTC devices.
 
So i just came back from my local tmo store, i just returned the vibrant :o and went back to my old N1, i loved the way the vibrant handles the 3D games, but the touchwiz almost make my eyes bleed, and it also felt very laggy and buggy, oh and the battery, man i dont know if the battery was just bad or something, cause i would be droping almost :mad:10% per hour with almost no use... i mean on the N1, its 92% and its been 4 hours since i disconnected it from the charger, and ive been using it normally:D.
so yeah i think ill stick to the N1 for a while, and from now on, if its not vanilla android, im not buying it lol.
 
I played with one yesterday and didn't like the plastic feel. I would love the internal storage but the n1 is still a all around better phone.

Yes it was nice to intall apps and not even look at the size of them :Dlol.. i mean nfs shift demo was near the 1gb
 
I know this thread is about the Vibrant, but since I also have a phone like it(Captivate) I figured Id comment.

Ive had the Captivate since the minute it was released on Sunday. Ive been using it back and forth with my N1 ever since. Theres a lot of things I like and dont like on both phones comparing each other.

I like how everything just works on the N1, all apps are there and everything is supported. I hate how I cant find or get half the apps I love for the Captivate, and Im not in the mood to start rooting a brand new phone. I HATE HATE HATE how the Captivate has no indicator that its charging or has a new message or anything. When its in sleep mode it looks like its off. At least with the N1 theres the trackball that will blink if I have a message(even if I dont use it for anything else) and theres that little LED that glows orange and green when its charging. How hard is it to put that in a phone?

I really like how the Captivate has the ability to have email signatures in 2.1(even though my N1 has it on 2.2) and the ability to refuse a call with a message. I have had the Captivate battery last me almost 48 hours without charging and I thought that was quite impressive. The longest Ive gotten out of my froyo N1 was about 32 which is still fine for me.

I cant seem to figure out why the facebook pictures dont populate my contacts on the Captivate but fills it out on the N1. I dislike not having a flash on the Captivate camera as I actually do use that often on the N1. I dont like all that bloatware that I cant get rid of unless I root the phone. I cant stand the swype keyboard as it registers what I type maybe 50% of the time but correcting the other 50% of the mistakes makes me slower than a regular keyboard like on the N1.

Im not a gamer so I really dont care about the FPS rate of the captivate and I dont plan on watching movies on it either.

My main concern with my N1 was that I was dropping calls and having failed calls. I went to the Captivate to hopefully alleviate that with better reception. I cant say that it has any better reception, and if thats the case, the phone does not function mainly as a phone any better than my N1. And for that main reason, I think I shall be returning it.

Could it be a network problem, then?

I'm jealous of the TouchWiz 3.0 lock screen. It looks nice. But that's about it.

No, Ive been on AT&T for over 5 years and the whole time I was on blackberry's. Never once dropped a call with any of them and it didnt happen until I got my N1. Regardless, I think Im still going to keep my N1. The Captivate doesnt do enough different than it and with the same call quality, theres no reason to have spent another $500 on nothing. Good thing I didnt waste my upgrade on this.
 
I was talking with friends last night whom all own nexi (is that the plural?). One of my friend posed an interesting argument, since the nexus is now a collectible/limited edition what have you, he is going to treat it as a really nice watch or piece of jewelry. He would get a vibrant and use that for day to day use and keep the nexus for special outings when he wants to show off. Partly because hes afraid of damaging the nexus and being unable to replace it thru insurance. The vibrants not all bad the custom ui can be replaced with pro launcher or any other home replacement. The screen is beautiful not to mention that now that its actually nice outside it is frustrating not to be able to see my screen, the vibrants suppose to be a lot better with sunlight legability. Also i was not a fan of the evo or droid x because they felt gigantical in my hands but having held the vibrant it really isnt that much bigger than the nexus. The 16gb of on board memory coupled with my 32gb sd card give me a whopping total of 48gb of space which is more than i should ever need. The thought of the vibrant is starting to grow on me. Also consider this the resale value of our nexus phones will go up as it gets harder to find, within 2 months they might go for a nice chunk. Any one else want to chime in?
