Help Any new/better way to return to factory?

I upgraded to the first 2.2 leak back when it first came out and then immediately went back with Odin. I've got a problem where I can't get Google Earth to work on my phone - it doesn't come up in the market and it "can't be found" when you try to goto the website and download it manually on the browser.

Anyways, when I did the Odin thing... that was a couple of months ago. I was wondering if there was any better way to go back. Updated directions, info, files, etc? Don't know if it's better to go back to that very first firmware that some phones got shipped with, then let it update to the current one?

Would appreciate any input. All the related threads came up 3 months old so I guess this is due on this side of the forum.

I'm confused! How easy do you want it to be? Load one pit file, load one tar file, and then wait like 3 minutes via odin. It doesnt get easier than that! You can grab a sammich or use the potty in that time!

You're doing it right, EAD.

I'll just add that when I've done it on my Fascinate I also took the step of doing a factory data reset before running the Odin procedure. That reset looked incomplete in certain places, but the Odin procedure "filled it in," so to speak.

I've experimented many times with root/unroot/reseting, etc and found that the best way to go was reset then Odin and the restore became complete.
