Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

I have always loved HTC's designs and build quality, but the LTEvo is the only device that really has intrigued me the most of all their released devices.

Ultimately, I think the S-Pen is the biggest seller for me, when it comes to Phablets. That probably has a lot to do with my past phones having a stylus integrated, but the S-Pen goes beyond what I had imagined for a phone stylus.

Yeah I understand what your saying. For me, I always dreamed of a Nexus phablet and this may be it. This will definitely be on my list for next phones to get.

Had to share with my fellow Sprint peeps. So, I was reading this recent write-up on the Optimus G:

While reading that blog, it also mentioned an awesome app that I wasn't aware of. How awesome? Well, for those of you that hadn't upgraded to the SGS 3, but were admiring the SGS 3's capability for pop-up video play...this app is for you. I put it on my Photon. Works awesome with the videos I have loaded up on my sd card.

MoBo player also has pop out play. Been using it for a while. Tried Super player when I first came across it but got rid of it cause at that time it was missing a simple feature--the ability to close the damn player once its been popped out.

I tried to like it but it wasn't worth the aggravation.

I must have completely missed that. Does Mobo support playing youtube links also? That's the only reason I'd keep Super player, if Mobo supports popup play.

-EDIT (ADDED)- Okay, so I just tried Mobo's pop-up. It's not quite as good as Super player's because it doesn't have click, hold and drag to re-size. I also like the fact that Super supports playing youtube links. I've really enjoyed Mobo player for as long as I've used it, just because it supported almost every video file that I have on my phone, but I may switch permanently if I can get Super to play the files that Mobo seems to play without issues.

Okay, both players seem to have their limitations. Super doesn't soft decode all files as good as Mobo. This all becomes a moot point with the Note 2, unless the Note 2 player doesn't support youtube links or soft decode all video formats.
 
I hope it comes true too. That phone is definitely on my list. Looking forward to see what else is coming.
 
Ok, the lack of activity on the optimus g and eclipse forums is making me lean towards the note 2 even more. Haven't completely ruled it out, but the note 2 forums seem like they'll be so much more active and that's definitely something I missed after leaving the evo.
 
The LG will definitely get a look from me, but I got really happy when I saw the HTC nexus rumor. I always want HTC to be my nexus device and this might be it.

I too would love an HTC Nexus, but I'm not sold on phablets. I'd prefer it to be under 5" personally, but like anything I'll reserve judgment until it's released and I can get my little meat hooks into it.

This is killing me. Based on the "Eclipse" rumors for ATT and Sprint, all of those had rumored that device to be a 4.67 inch screen and the dimensions of that phone were slightly different than the Optimus G.

To back up the Nexus rumors even more, the early leaks of the "Eclipse" had a removable battery (although, I still don't remember seeing a leak that showed a micro sd slot). The early leaks also reported that the phone was a quad-core phone, so that matches up with the Optimus G. The more I piece together the rumors, the more I think that there might actually be some good validity to all the rumors.

On top of that, we're almost at the 2 month mark since the "Eclipse" hit the FCC. I'll tell you this. If Sprint announces a LG Optimus within the next few weeks, prior to the Note 2, that has a removable battery and microSD slot, while sporting almost identical specs to the Optimus G...that's definitely going to put the phone back into consideration with the Note 2, for me.

Only time will tell, but the lack of news worthy information on the US version of the Optimus G is killing the early hype I had about this device and actually pushed me to pay more attention to the Note 2.
 
I have a feeling LG might surprise us with a well built nexus phone. LG needs a spark and what better way to do so. Plus i'm curious to see if Apple will try to sue them.

Android Authority posted this up recently and it kinda falls in line with my theories:

The thing that's strikingly evident to me are the FCC leaks of the Eclipse for Sprint and ATT, that showed a device with slightly different dimensions from the Optimus G and early leaks showed at least a removable battery for the Eclipse. So maybe all this speculation about the Optimus Nexus actually has a little 'bit of validity?

So strange. There were many articles, much like the one below that mentioned South Korea's launch of the Optimus G would be sometime this week, but I haven't seen any mention of it actually launching. Maybe because of the Note 2 release in South Korea today? Or maybe they delayed the formal release a month for after the Note 2's release?

Looks like the Optimus G, according to this video, is scheduled for release through the 3 S.Korea mobile networks (5:13 mark caption)

That's 1 week after the SGNote 2, in South Korea, but question still remains which phone gets released in the US first. My gut is telling me, the Eclipse (or Nexus or whatever it's called) will get released by 10/12 or 10/14. The Note 2 by 11/9 or 11/11.

Although, there is that remote possibility, if the Optimus is in fact a Nexus device, we'll see a dual release date like the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper that were released on the same day!...Hmmm.
 
Seems more evident that the Note 2 will be a November release, since the US event, seemingly for the Note 2, is on October 24.

Although, part of me thinks that it might be a multi-announcement event because the Samsung Slate Series 5 and 7 is scheduled to release on my birthday, 10/26 (which, based on the way things have been going, seems to be my "tablet" of choice since I'll be able to use the S-Pen bluetooth for both the tablet and the Note 2)

Crap!...What if Google has decided to have Asus Padfone 2 make its US debut as a Nexus device:

Google to launch $99 Nexus tablet this year?

As much as I've been leaning towards the Note 2 as my next upgrade...if Google made a Nexus Padfone, that'd be over for me...hands down my #1 choice (assuming Sprint would even offer it up). Granted, it seems like it's more focused on a "refresh" version of the Nexus 7, but I love speculation and the thought of a Nexus Padfone would be SO ideal.

Hrm. The October 24th announcement is definitely Note 2 related, thanks to the pen. The Galaxy Nexus was announced October 19, 2011 (delayed a week from its original planned announcement date in honor of Steve Jobs' passing). The Nexus S was informally announced on November 15, 2010 and officially announced on December 6. We still have no word from Google on when the next Nexus announcement will be.

What are the chances, if the Galaxy Nexus 2 rumors are true, that Samsung will pull an Apple-esque "one more thing" moment and announce it along with the Note 2's US availability? Will we see a Google announcement in the weeks between October 24 and mid-November? Assuming the Note 2 makes it to Sprint in November as rumored, could a Nexus appear on Sprint in December or will it slip to 2013?

That would be cool! It is an interesting angle though and I'd have to start wondering why Google Bought Motorola instead of buying ASUS :D

I think 'the point' of the Nexus line, so far, is to offer a different line of all unique models rather than the re-produced lines that are already on the market. One could argue whether or not the Padfone is in fact established based on its capricious release, however I don't know if I can see Google adopting in a previously released fone line at all [to be a nexus device].
It is really an interesting idea though, and you know we'd love to see the Padfone 2 get some direct Google support.
As far as Sprint getting the Padfone 2, It is still firmly in the 'no chance' camp even though I have been pining for it, for going on a year.
(FCC docs with some radio&antennae listed would be mighty helpful)

For what it's worth, Motorola is an American company that made its phones in suburban Chicago long after other phone makers were having their made by political prisoners and children in Communist China.

I knew a guy, a customer of my best friend, who worked at the Motorola plant, making those iconic flip-phones. I suppose it means a lot more when you know someone, hear the stories, and when you drive by the factory you say to yourself "that's where my phone came from!" (Sadly, that's no longer the case.)

I like ASUS too. My primary workstation and a number of servers were built on ASUS motherboards. My secondary (Windows) workstation is a store bought ASUS tower PC. My laptop, netbook and tablet are all ASUS machines. I didn't set out to buy ASUS when I bought any of these; they beat the competition fair and square.

But as a US citizen who doesn't have the kind of money it takes to move to another country, I'd rather invest in domestic industry in the hope that the US might turn around in time to give me a life worth living as I get older and less able to fend for myself alone. I have to have faith that Google and Motorola can come up with products that are at least as attractive as those designed by our free Chinese (Taiwanese) friends because I don't have much choice.
