Any news about 4.4 ???

New day here so new post, forgive me as an android newbie but in android if you side load you are just updating rather than a recovery that deletes all data?

I am fairly confident about Windows and can maneuver Linux with little issue but since Android is a shell of Linux it can have its own nomenclature. I try to read between the lines of others posting with way more experience here than me but I am not sure if it is just me getting old or what but it seems to get more confusing daily............

Adb sideload would be the same as taking an ota

OK cool, it looked like this is what the links were inferring but just taking things for granted has caused many an issue................

I keep trying it, but never get any luck. I tried the framework trick several times also, but no luck there either.

Don't feel too bad, here in the states it seems for the OTA we are not having much luck either. At least I am not in NJ. It seems too this thread is way slower than that of the 4.3 upgrade but that could be many factors..............

Has anyone else in the UK managed to get the update?

Yup, see post #25. I seem to be in the vast minority though, I know a few people that have been trying since I got it with no joy. (I'm very persistant though, had some free time to spam the services framework trick and got lucky seemingly :D )

I think there is something wrong with the OTA. That is few if any are getting it. I derive this from the lack of posts here and time for it to even get to me. The 4.3 released 7/24 and by 7/28 I got it. 4.4 was released on 11/12 but on 11/20 as of yet it still is not here and this is with the services trick every couple of hours for the last few days...........

Edit; Maybe I was right.......

Google pushing a bugfix for Android 4.4 KitKat [KRT16S], new factory images available for Nexus devices | Android Central

Edit 2; it appears last night a lot of sites carried the news I just missed it. It would have been nice for Google to have let us know when they haulted the updates rather than make us wait in frustration.......

So just got so just got this nexus 10, (Samsung wifi 32 gb version)

How exactly do I get kitkat on it? Or should I just wait patiently? Just got it on the 19th.

it counts on how much of a hurry you are in? the first thing though is to be sure you already are on 4.3 as I think this needs to be there first for the OTA to work..........

Install all available OTA and wait is the safest way. Or root, get CWM/TWRP, and install a custom ROM.

Had you noticed any bugs before this little update?

Mostly app issues but guessed that was due to incompatibility with 4.4 as oppose to the actual FW. Found alternative apps so couldn't say I've seen any difference to be honest.

They basically have a lottery system whereby at first, you have a 1% chance to get the update. Then 25%, then 50%, 75%, 100%

Not as far as I can tell. One of the posters here with the early release of 4.4 is in the UK. I do think though the servers are more interested in sending the bug fix out as needed than the full OTA update.

Just got the update.

What exactly is the difference? Only thing I noticed different is white color scheme and different status icons..

Wasn't there suppose to be new wallpaper and stuff?

That is with GEL. Once, if ever, the transparencies are in place that will make a bit of a visual difference. I just started playing with other launchers so not too sure I even want googles.

The performance of the 4.4 is much better. Since you just got the device and were on 4.3 for such a short time you may never notice this though.
