Any Note Owners Use SPIGEN SGP GLAS t. Screen Protector?

I have something of a random question for current, or previous, Note owners. I am considering upgrading my Samsung Captivate to either the Note or the Galaxy S3 on ATT. Realistically, I will probably go with the note since aesthetically I really don't like the S3. The rather large difference in internal specs doesn't really matter much as I doubt I would really leverage the improvements (I have basically replaced my work & personal laptops with an Asus Transformer which I doubt I would replace with either phone).

So, onto the topic - has anyone used the SPIGEN SGP GLAS t. Screen Protector? I really despise having a bulky case on my phone and I bike commute to work so it would need to fit into something like the Arkon Mega Grip Bicycle mount.

What are your thoughts? Pros? Cons? Indifference?

Thanks!

Welcome to Android forums!:)
We are so glad you have joined us here.

I have not used that screen protector so I can't say.

I'm waiting for it to arrive. I've heard excellent things about it. Even watched a video of a user using scissors right on the screen of the Note. It is made of glass. It will add a bit of depth to the phone screen and from some shots I saw, it is visible. It will not not sit flush.

You also have one shot at the application. No second chances if you mess up the application of the screen.

You also need to be aware that some cases will not work with the screen protector. I'm hoping there will be no issues with the Otterbox commuter case which I'm also waiting for.

I considered getting glas.t, but decided not to.

First, it is expensive. I, instead, bought anti-glare films for $2 each from ebay.

Two, SGP recommends to use a case, in addition to glas.t, because the edges of glas.t are exposed and it can chip. But, you need to make sure that the case will fit with the glas.t on the screen. Google for reviews and you will see that one of the reviewers actually chip it.

Three, there are alot of complaints about the adhesive. Apparently after few months, it loses the stickiness and air bubbles form between glas.t and the screen.

It seems like an awesome product, but many people recommend good ol' film screen protectors.

I use it and love it. It does not interfere with the S-pen at all. Everyone I show it to loves it.

Be careful installing; the instructions are a bit misleading (I believe that you take film number 2 off before film number 1, but check as I can't quite remember). You also only get one chance to get it on.

I installed mine in the bathroom shortly after a shower; the steam in the room takes the dust out of the air. This will help avoid bubbles.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I think that I am going to take the plunge and go with the GLAS.t.

ddochi11, do you know which cases are recommended as complementary to GLAS.t?

I have it and love how clear the screen is. I don't use a cover. Just slip it into my pockets. I thought that the plastic screen protectors were clear but this one takes it to another level.

I have to agree. I just got mine and installed it. Very nice indeed. Definitely a huge improvement over the Boxwave film I used.

Because Glas.t adds little bit to the thickness, people recommend cases that does not have a lip, or non-hard cases.

Or, since there are some people using Glas.t, they may be able to provide some feedback with their experiences with different cases.

Well, I can say the Incipio feather Ultralight Hard Shell Case works with it. I can also fit the GNote and Glas.t in a Boxwave Designio Leather Horizontal flip case (as it's not a snug or tight fit). It slides loosely in/out and doesn't offer much protection; though it does look professional and nice. I stretched the case leather enough that I can fit the GNote, glas.t and Incipio backer into it without problems to provide a little more protection.

I am still waiting for the Otterbox commuter case to arrive and will let you know how it goes.

Hello, I am considering to buy the SGP Glas t. screen protector for my international version of the Galaxy Note. I already own a SPG case that it compatible with it. Besides the cost, any drawbacks on this product? If I remove it from the Note later, will it damage or leave adhesive residues on the Note's screen?

Well, just an update. After having this protector on for a few days, I've managed to scratch the screen with my 'regular' usage. Though it's barely noticeable. I'm not kidding around when I say I abuse the screen alot. This is the reason why I always invest in screen protectors. I can almost guarantee you, I can and will scratch the gorilla glass in a period of time given my abusive screen habits.

I read somewhere that it does leave slightly noticeable marks after scratching. Anybody knows how good it is in protecting the screen upon drops? I heard that it costs about $200 to replace the screen.

I just got the Otterbox Commuter case and confirm it works with the glas.t. No problems with it.

I don't notice the scratch on the screen with the screen on. However, with the screen off I can see where the scratch is if viewed at the right angle.

Do you mean when you remove the glas.t, you can see from the Note's screen where the scratch is?

Yeah I do have glas.t on my galaxy note. And, it's my second one that i'm putting on.

I dropped my phone so hard on the ground, but only glas.t shattered, and the screen was perfect like new. That incident totally made me buy another glas.t. It tells everything why I love this product. In case you never drop your phone, it's just so nice to feel that glass just like the actual screen. I would recommend it. Plus, i got a free gift card of SGP with my second purchase of glas.t. I got it through purchasing from their official website. SPIGEN SGP AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note LTE Screen Protector GLAS.t Premium Tempered Glass Series

I think that he means that when the screen is lighted, the scratch is not visible, but with it dark, the scratch is visible at certain angles.
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I don't plan on removing the glass.t unless it's necessary (ie. replacement). Unlike other protectors, you cannot reuse the glass.t if you remove it. It is one time; one use application.

Thanks for the info crhcho. It makes me feel more better knowing my screen is properly protected. :)

Hi, I just bough the glas.t for my Galaxy Note. The guy at the store installed for me. After the installation, I noticed that at the edges, there are some kind of imperfection. The dealer said that this is normal as the manufacturer cut the glass and there is an adhesive sheet in between, it is typical to see that the edges are not perfectly cut. Is this really ture?

Might want to check this as it appears others aren't like that.

Man that is an awesome idea for installing any screen protectors. I never thought of that. Thanks for the tip!
