Accessories Any one got a cradle to recommend?

Hello friends.

I am about to invest in a charge and sync cradle/dock.

I was looking at clove.co. uk and found one or two decent looking ones for about 15 pounds

Has anybody else got a dock they could recommend to me?

The only reson i want one is to neaten up my desk. It also looks pretty cool to have your phone upright. any help appreciated.

All the charging-type cradles look like cheap bits of plastic to me.

Hi Dave, Thanks for your interest in CelJel. Shipping to the UK is around 8 to 10 US dollars. We have run out of stock for now due to the holiday rush but we should have more in stock within about a week. I think Amazon may have some left. ...

Didn't realise that Amazon sold them. And didn't realise that I could order from the Amazon US site with my UK details .... The wonders of modern technology!! Won't be here in time for Xmas now but that is no problem whatsoever.

I bought one of these:-
HTC DESIRE HD DUAL TWIN SYNC DOCK DESKTOP CHARGER on eBay (end time 31-Dec-10 21:44:03 GMT)
Works well, comes up as a removeable drive & charges as well as holding my phone at a good angle at the side of my monitor at work.
Might get another for charging at home.
My boss thinks its just a posh clock as it goes into desk-clock mode automatically.
Doesnt look cheap either.

How easy would it be to cut a channel and hole in the CelJel for a USB cable so I could stand my DHD upright and charge at the same time?

Anyone else using a cradle that they would recomend. Had a look at fatty_mctavish's link but its expired, would really like to lay my hands on one that had been recomended by a fellow HD user.

Is there nothing good that can charge the DHD and sync it whilst keeping the phone secure?

I've searched everywhere and those that I have found are either for the original Desire or don't hold the phone securely.

Got my Celjel. Quite impressed. At least with the black one I received, I wouldn't have been quite so happy with the lime green one ... Each to his/her own I suppose .... Holds the phone fairly securely with the only real problem being when tapping the top of the screen when In portrait mode. A bit unsteady but I've found the natural way to use it is to have a finger on the stand anyway so no problem. For typing I have a wifi keyboard app anyway so just use the PC keyboard.

I suppose you could cut a hole BUT you would really need the cables going out the back of the stand and as the phone is sloping forward that would be tricky. You'd have to cut a hole and channel along the bottom.
If I connect my DHD up whilst on the stand it's in portrait mode and I just have the cables going out the side. Makes no difference in the office to me.

Have you tried using this in your car? I bought a universal one from Mobile Fun but it was totally useless, couldn't deal with the weight of the DHD and then fell apart. I really want a car holder so I can do SatNav and Music through my fm transmitter. I don't especially want a windscreen mount as i have two cars and want to be able to move between the two easily.

I really want a car holder so I can do SatNav and Music through my fm transmitter. I don't especially want a windscreen mount as i have two cars and want to be able to move between the two easily.

No sorry I havent, I can see it working with the DHD in landscape mode but it might struggle in portrait as the DHD is quite large.

I got a Clingo mount for mine. It is a wind screen mount using a suction cup, but it doesn't touch any of the DHD sides, so all ports will be accessible for charging and FM transmitter

Thats what I was thinking, but I've searched Google and eBay and they are all this price.

Tried the spider stand in the car now and worked fine in both landscape and portrait mode. Used the air vent to hold it in place, all good.
