Any reason NOT to root and ROM my phone?

Ive been doing a ton of reading but it's getting overwhelming. I'm unhappy with the amount of junk on my phone that I will never use, I would love to see improved battery life (even though I have the extended battery) and I'm curious to check out the ICS ROM that is out there. Ive had my phone for about 5 weeks and I'm wondering, is there any reason for me NOT to root my phone and clean things up, along with flashing a new ROM?

Thanks--Dan

That's a good question. I have unlocked my Rezound, Rooted, and installed Amron and made a nandroid backup. I also purchased Titanium Backup and was actually able to un-install some of the apps that came on the phone that I didn't use.

I am still a bit confused about how to actually load a different rom onto it though. I see a rom in .zip for and then I keep hearing about the ph98img file. I guess I'm just getting to old to keep up with this stuff.......But so far I am happy with being able to at least get rid of some of the apps off of this thing.
