Any ROM players out there?

If so, how can you guys play fast paced games that require a lot of button mashing? I find it next to impossible to use the touch screen while playing these types of games. Is there a specific emulator that you guys use that helps with this issue? What am I doing wrong :mad:

Even though the Incredible features multi-touch, by default, it's limited to two points of contact. This causes some rapid button mashers to struggle on ROMs. However, if you root, you can install custom kernels that support up to 10 points of contact. This makes a HUGE difference in emulated games.

First off, I see you're new here. Do you, in fact, own an HTC Incredible? If yes, which screen do you have, AMOLED or SLCD? DOo't know? Do the following;

  • From your home screen, hit the menu button, then select settings
  • Select "About Phone" from the bottom
  • select Hardware Information
  • The first number, "Hardware Version" will be or end in 0002, or 0003. Which do you have?
The info is important, because true multitouch, for some reason, has issues on SLCD but not on AMOLED. If you have SLCD, you may or may not get it working.

With that said, I recommend Lou's kernels;
[Kernel] UPDATE: Jan 23 HeyItsLou Custom Sense Kernel #9 La Villa Strangiato - xda-developers

He's got them numbered 4-9 (higher doesn't mean better, just different feature set). #6 and 7 have multi-touch enabled. Start with 7 first, and if it's not stable enough, downgrade to 6.

Yes sir, I have an Incredible.

Hardware version: 0002. Which ever thats mean :D

It means that you have an AMOLED screen and shouldn't run into any issues using a multi-touch kernel :)

I don't want to short change you, so read up on the rooting guides involving Unrevoked. Follow the directions to the letter. Once you have root under your belt, then it's time to deal with flashing ROMs and kernels. Take it one step at a time.

Thanks. I've already done a lot of research on rooting. Just never had any reason to honestly do it until now.
