Any significant differences between ics .232 & .246

Screw it. I just fxz'd back to 905 and let it settle. Did a fdr and let it settle. The ota is downloading. Hope it doesn't screw me. (Shruggs) I still have one left on ginger bread that will stay that way for the time being (Till firefox is outdated).

WISE CHOICE

Good choice. I'll never understand why you like the older webtop so much better. It was sooooo slow. Made me feel like the lapdock was a worthless purchase. Using the full Firefox browser, I'd type something like I'm doing right now and then sit back and wait 30 seconds for the lapdock to finish filling in the sentence I just typed. Webtop 3.0 is a beautiful thing.

Because I do not have an home internet connection and the Firefox browser is the closest thing to legal free tethering. :D There's somethings a mobile based browser just cannot do. Besides, I did like the layout better.

Well, all seems well. headphone jack tested good, Bluetooth, GPS, navigation and all apps are functional, other than resco radio. Yes, the dolphin browser is much smoother with .246

So there is somewhat of a difference in a positive way. :)

Phone is all rooted, set up and working (Knock on wood).

updating now, no turning back!

Can you please post your thoughts on whether this was worth it in a few days? I am in your same situation (232 leak), which is running very well, and plan on getting a new phone within 6 months or so. I'd hate to do the ICS OTA and end up with my old Bionic (laggy, poor battery life, etc.). The only thing I'm missing currently is Bluetooth connection to my car head unit, and I'm not sure that would even be fixed by ICS OTA.

I'll probably catch some flack for this. But in my opinion I haven't seen a real difference other than it runs a tad smoother.

I'm a risk taker and decided to just go for it.

I'll put it this way, then you decide.

I have two bionics. one is under warranty and the other is not (Bought from eBay). I will not update the phone that is NOT under warranty! Like yourself, .232 seems just fine.

I only took the official update on the warranty phone. If the bionic I just did the update on was not under warranty, I would not have taken the update and stayed on 232. That said, that is just my opinion, and I'm very obsessive about my phone. :)

The update I did did turn out fine.

Should you decide to do the update, you could follow the steps I took if you wish.

1st back up anything you want to keep from the internal memory before you do anything.

Pull the SD card out and put one in that has nothing on it. (Or just leave it out if you don't have a spare SD card.

I fxz'd back to 905 and let the phone settle for atleast 10 to 15 minutes.

Next, do a factory reset and let the phone settle for another 10 minutes.

Download and install the update, leaving it alone till it's done.

Let the phone settle for another 15 minutes and do a factory reset.

After the factory reset, let the phone settle for another 15 minutes.

Shut it down and insert your SD card (And do a battery pull while you're at it).

Power it up and start adding your apps and setting it up how you like.

I know it sounds like a bit much, but that is the route I took to have an ultra clean install. :)
