I've never tasted cognac. Am I missing something worth trying?
me neither. its probably one of the few spirits i have yet to try.

i have tried brandy a few times. its ok not really me. however, my friend's uncle makes his own cherry brandy.......its so good!!!!!!!i had it for his wedding. every table had it a bottle. i ended up snagging a few to take home when no one was looking:cool::cool::cool::cool:

When i was in my 20s i was working on a charity project in France, and made friends with a family who had an incredibly well stocked cellar. Luckily for me they decided to educate this ignorant Englishman.

We went through the grades... From V (Brandy flavoured paint stripper), to vs, vsop and X(which i thought was amazing) and he talked through and quizzed me on what i was tasting.

Eventually... He decided i knew enough and brought out a bottle of XO.

This is the cogbac equivalent of 20 year old scotch whisky.... And it was so smooth it was incredible..

I love cognac... But theres no way i can afford to look at a bottle of the good stuff... And the stuff i can afford is a pale reflection .

Also.. armagnac is very similar to cognac but from a different region in france.

Its like the difference between whiskey and whisky (and that e makes a big difference to some people)

Usually drink Tsingtao beer or Beijing Erguotou baijiu or Great Wall cognac.
hey have you tried:

just finished a bottle of Mer Soliel made by the Wagner family. it is a very nice chardonay which is perfect for summer and bbq's. it is very refreshing thgat is light, crisp, with hints of apple and lemon zest. niow that it is night and cool, i'm about to have a glass of Bib and Tucker bourbon.

i wish i had time to get some cigars for this weekend. it would be perfect with my bourbon.

I actually like to drink my whiskey with a little bit of ice.

i do this:

do you?

I like my bourbon neat but I may have to try making ice that way. I never get ice at a restaurant/fast food place (germs! yuck!) and never make ice (cloudy! yuck!) so this may cure me of my ice phobia, at home anyway. Thanks for sharing it.

Single malt whisky is my home territory, with some preference for the peatier Island types. I used to always drink it straight (unless cask strength, in which case some water is obligatory), these days often add just a small dash of water (though never to Lagavullin).

Ice I would tend to reserve for gin (which is the fashionable spirit in the UK at the moment).

My wife is a recent bourbon convert. She likes it mixed though. Usually with frozen lemonade or Sprite. She wants me to try making smoked water ice cubes to see how that tastes.

hmmmm would the smoker melt the cubes? if you are going to smoke cubes, instead of bourbon why not a nice peaty single malt whiskey as hadron mentioned? the more peaty the more smoky the taste.

i have used that method many times now, but i'm getting to the point where i am getting lazy and do not use ice at all.....lol

Well, you smoke the water then freeze it into cubes, so you get the oak flavor from the ice to mitigate the watering down.

i'll drink modelo, but i try and stay away from corona. i can tolerate dos equis, but is something i would never buy unless offered or given for free....lol

anybody here like ciders?

Mexican beer: modelo dark or reg
Corona, dos equis
Easier hangover than Budweiser
My old go to
if you like mexican style beers then check out Founder's new seasonal beer. its called Mas Agave. and manis it delicious. it is a gose style ale so it is a bit tart. but to me it tastes like if you add lime to your corona except it is 10 times better then corona. what is also cool is that is fermented in tequila barrels.

i just bought it today and man is tastes great and it is super strong!!!!!!!!!

I have in my wallet a license called a commercial driver's license (CDL) once you get one of these, your days of drinking are basically done, even on vacation and home time.
On a side note I use to work in the casino industry for the top,top shelf cognac one place charge $700 per shot or if you were betting $1,000 steadily the casino would comp you a couple of shots.
