Any Time is Grillin Time

Local grocery store in Waynesboro, Tennessee had wood pellets for grilling, but they came in 40 lbs bags

I by my pellets in 40 lb bags as well. It's a different brand than your picture. It's sold my Wal Mart at a substantial savings over the twenty pounders. They aren't nearly as easy to haul and store and a bit cumbersome to fill the smoker hopper. As long as I can still carry them... I'll buy the bargain bags.

I've seen eight, ten, eighteen, and twenty pounders.

Costco has tomahawks at a pretty good price!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats a great price
My son was doing a tomahawk last night. I have no idea what he had to pay for it. Out of all the things I've cooked, I've yet to do a tomahawk. I bet it's a fun 4th cook! Enjoy....
A tomahawk is just a ribeye where they leave the rest of the rib on. Usually cut a little thicker. It's a dramatic looking cook, but really worth paying the weight for extra bone.

Yes... right. I understand the cut. I'd still like to do one but have always shied away because of the price per pound with so much of it bone. It would still be a fun cook and have a high presentation factor.
yeah the price factor has always been my issue. but i bought 2 tomahawk steaks for $50 at Costco......could not pass up that price!!!!!!!
All that said, if you have a dog, that thing is priceless. :p

debating on what i want to do with the beef ribs i bought. either smoke it on the woodfire, grill it on my charbroil, or stew it in my ninja foodi pressure cooker.

or save it for the 4th of July and cook it with the tomahawk steaks.

decisions decisions..........

sweet or savory is the other one i am contemplating. never used them on ribs, but would the montreal steak seasoning be good on the ribs?
I suspect the montreal would be fine... especially if you are a fan of the flavor. You can make up a rub.. I'm sure you have the spices. A little brown sugar, paprika, salt, garlic, thyme, onion powder, cayenne, chili powder, mustard powder, oregano, black pepper.... whatever you have on hand. Just brown sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic isn't bad. Everyone's taste desires differ.

Tomorrow, if all goes as planned, is Costco day. I need a few staple and my freezer is getting low on goodies. I need to run to town and purchase some more Darjeeling tea as well. I've been hungry for turkey lately. I'd like to find a small bird and spatchcock it on the smoker. It's been too long since I've done that cook. I only have a couple of packages of ground beef left so I'll definitely be buying an eight pound package. I want to buy a big package of chicken thighs. Tomahawk... :)

My Costco run is behind me. I managed to buy some boneless skinless chicken thighs at a decent price. I bought a 6.5 pound package of ground beef at three something a pound. No turkey or tomahawks to be found. I got home and vac sealed my burger into meals packages then ran to Walmart. They often have tomahawks in their counter but not today. I did bring home a 16 pound turkey. It was the smallest bird they had. It wasn't nearly as cheap as I anticipated but I'm hungry for turkey. I plan to thaw it and spatchcock smoke the bird Sunday. I did pick up two more forty pound bags of pellets for $14.97 each. Here is a pic of what I always buy.
