Any Time is Grillin Time

I got them for $14 a bag. I've found 40# bags for $30 on Amazon, but I'm hanging onto my warranty. Speaking of pellets, one mistake I made was puring the bag directly into the hopper. The dust clogged the auger and I had a little fire start to back up. Now I use a kitty litter scoop to load and unload the hopper. Keeps the dust out.
That's a great deal. Happy for ya. Yep, that dust can be a bugger. BTW, the Traeger warranty is good. I had a problem with mine not holding the temp about a year into service. Called up the place where I purchased it and that afternoon they came out and replaced EVERYTHING. The motherboard and controls were an upgrade to the OEM even. The repairman said.. I don't know for sure what's wrong with it...replacing everything should fix you up. He smiled and so did I. My cooker will be three years old in May. I use it two or three times a week.. more in the summer. I have no idea how many bags of pellets I've turned to ash. I have no complaints.

Maintenance...
Speaking of pellet dust and such, I found a small shop vac ideal for cleaning out the smoker. I don't know if you've addressed cleanup yet but I highly recommend a vac for cleaning out the ash.
It will build up in the bottom of the cooker and will eventually make a sizable pile in the burn pot.
I know some of those ashes also back feed into the auger tube. A vac makes short work of it.

My son bought a Green Mt smoker. He likes it a lot. I have not tried their pellets but I think they run about the same price as Traeger's. Personally, I've yet to find any bargains that burn slow with little ash, and produce a good wood taste. I've yet to find a brand the Traeger won't digest but I think Traeger has the best pellets.

I have my pork blade steaks rubbed down and awaiting tomorrow's smoke. I'm guessing it will take two and a half hours... perhaps three to cook. I'm baking some beans with the steaks. They should come along in the same time frame. I've not smoked blade steaks so it's new ball game for me. I love them grilled so I know I'll love them smoked. ...for those that haven't enjoyed a pork blade steak, they are steak cuts of a pork shoulder.

I like BBQ. Pork chops tonight and brats tomorrow night. Well into December and still no snow. :(

Love the apron! :D Both chops and brats are winners in my book. My wife recently bought a pork loin that was on sale. I cut half into chops and plan on smoking the other half. Both were repackaged and put in the freezer. I almost thawed the chops for today's cook.

My son is grilling wings for a big party he's having today. I've never tried just wings on the grill and neither has he. Half of his wings will be hot mango and the other honey bbq. The wings should prove to be a fun cook. I'm anxious for a full report.

Must be smoked pork Sunday. I just put mustard and rub on some tenderloins to put on the smoker this afternoon.

BTW, my wife found a Polish deli and is going to pick up some authentic brats sometime this week. A real grill needs some real brats.:D

I'm heading to my favorite butcher shop to buy some of his old fashioned hot dogs. Will then run by the store to purchase some brat buns. I have some leftover pork chili from last night that should compliment my grilled dogs. I love quality chili dogs.

Later... Ok, so I have a belly ache. It was well worth it. :)

Just an FYI, Traeger is still selling pellets for $15.99 with free shipping. I just had my 100# delivered, but I figured I would let everyone here know.

Well I tried... The deal is still on but there was nothing free about the shipping. It looked free until I was actually checking out. Three bags was just a bit over $30 shipping. That pretty much rubbed the savings right off of the pellets. :( I wasn't in need anyway so I just canceled.

Sorry, reading the email sloser the fine print is free shipping on orders over $100.:(

With the thought of purchasing additional pellets I figured I had best start burning some. Tonight I'm grilling out some ribeye steaks. I have them marinating now in my favorite concoction. I will smoke some corn on the cob, bake a couple of potatoes, and saute some portobello mushrooms.

Tomorrow night it's honey bbq chicken thighs. I'm going to rub down my boneless skinless thighs first with a hot rub. I will glaze them as they are finishing up with honey and bbq sauce. I plan to grill up some fresh asparagus spears in butter and shredded parmesan cheese. I love them cooked on the grill and so easy to prepare. I might just bake a couple of extra potatoes tonight so that I can double bake a couple to go with this meal. Hmmmmm... a little diced ham, sour cream, onions, and shredded cheddar..... yes, that sounds good. :D

Any excuse to use up these old pellets works for me.

Anyone smoking anything for Xmas? I was seriously thinking about a ham but it seems I'm the only one that is hungry for it. I may be smoking turkey again. Hey, it's great, but I just did that for Thanksgiving lol. Oh well, have to keep the customers satisfied.

I bought about 8 lbs of boneless pork chops that were marked down for quick sale this evening.
They're already seasoned as well, might as well give 'em a quick shot in the smoker.
Mmmmm, might get an early start on that.....................

Probably not for Christmas as I'm the lucky family that runs from house to house to house. I probably will over the weekend though, just not sure what. Maybe I'll see if I can get my hands on a prime rib.

I ran to Costco today with my son. Was the first time I've been in the place. I saw the prime rib you needed @Unforgiven . This chunk of roast was just under $200 dollars. One would need a fork lift to get it on and off the smoker lol. Joking aside, it was one amazingly great looking prime rib. Needless to say, it was still there when we left. I was pretty impressed with their meat counters.

That's exactly what I'm looking for.:D
