Any Time is Grillin Time

No sir. And I so want to try them. Your pics made it even worse. :)
Your quest is making me nervous that I got lucky finding them here when I did. I hope I can make them again in the future.

FWIW, pork butts are on sale for $0.89 / lb this week, so I'm going to stuff a couple in the freezer and probably make one this weekend.

That sounds great. Hard to beat pulled pork. I debated but decided on a brisket last weekend. It was good but I was left wanting pork butt. My flank steaks I smoked today were on sale. Not at a tremendous saving but decent. I think they were $3.69 or so a pound. Around eleven bucks a steak. One is all the wife and I can eat at a setting. Not too shabby.

I grabbed three butts. I was wrong on the price, it was $0.99, but 27 lbs of meat for under $30, you can't go wrong. Only one went in the freezer. I'll smoke the two tomorrow and then make some pork taquitos with the leftovers (a recipe I found). Otherwise one would be enough.
I have a busy night, so I put the rub on already. I'm going to do the full, slow smoke for 15 hours, so I'll be putting them on around 1AM. I can FTC them for two hours and pull them around 6PM tomorrow.

Sound advice. I've never owned a grill brush. I've always used a steel brush designed for masonry work lol. Same thing I guess. I recently read an article about cleaning the grill grate with the used crumpled up aluminum foil. Haven't tried it yet but it might work great. At least it wouldn't become embedded in my steak!

My new grill has a porcelain coated grate. I haven't a clue what's the preferred method of cleaning. My Jenn Air propane grill had chrome grates and have lasted well. They would take a vigorous scrubbing without a problem. The porcelain grate is far less quality and doesn't stand a chance of lasting a long time. But, they don't see direct flame. Maybe I'm wrong about them lasting.
foil does not do shit

every day is perfect for grilling!
now i want some baby backs and i just took out venison sausage burgers!
No argument from me. Mid eighties and no wind add a certain level of pleasure to the experience though. :) I almost grabbed a couple of bb ribs yesterday for smoking today. However, my butcher talked me into waiting for the 12th. A one day sale at under a buck a pound is worth waiting for. I bought some special order aged chuckeye steaks he had that a customer never picked up... marked down.... looking good. I have them resting in marinade now.

Your venison sausage burgers sound good. I noticed just yesterday that my butcher is now selling bork.(80% lean ground beef / 20% ground pork) I made burgers with such a mix at my daughter's place a couple of years ago.. was very good! I'm excited that it's going to be available and hope that the price per pound becomes more reasonable.

My wife just returned from her Sunday grocery shopping. She bought a two pound package of bork. I guess I'm going to try it sooner than later. :) It was packaged in a two pound package that was clearly marked $5.49 which I assumed was per pound. That was the price of the package so it's not over priced after all. Now to figure out what to fix with it. :) I may divide the package in half and freeze half. Two pounds of burgers for two people is a bit much. Or I might try smoking out a meat loaf. We'll see.

Update: I grilled bork burgers tonight. Coarse salt and pepper only for a true test of taste.. they tasted pretty darn good. The wife liked it better than just ground beef. I liked it for something different. It really didn't have a strong pork flavor but it's tasty. I like to mix hot sausage with my ground beef for a meatloaf with a bit of zip. I was expecting something along those lines I guess. No spices.. just a subtle pork flavor. The burgers were juicy though cooked through. I will do grill them again.

I grilled out some boneless skinless chicken thighs tonight. I used a generous amount of Montreal Chicken seasoning. I mopped them with half and half butter and honey. Sweet then tangy.
Pretty darn tasty.

Keep warm.. Toast buns.. Google ideas and you will be amazed what you will find for recipes specific to your particular grilling method.

Canned veggies?
They're already cooked.
Slice some summer squash and zucchini lengthwise, drizzle with a little olive oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic salt, and cook them up there. After you take off your steak and let it rest move the squash and zucchini to the lower grate for some searing. In a house that doesn't even like those vaggies in general I can't make enough of them that way.

I grilled out burgers, brats, and some hotlinks last night at the cabin. I have a new four burner grill down there and was amazed that with all four burners on high, it reached 650°! Talk about serious grill marks :) Way too hot for most grilling it is ideal for burning off the grease from the grill after use. Dinner was well received.

Tonight, being Mother's Day, my wife requested that I repeat the thigh cook from the other night. I guess she liked it. :) Anyway, they turned out great again. I'm becoming very fond of the flavor combo of the spice with the honey glaze. I baked some baby sweet potato slices lightly oiled with salt and pepper to go with the chicken. Those little slices with the skin on are wonderful.

Extremely curious to hear how your maiden cookout went with the hibachi? I hope you enjoyed your efforts and it proved to be a great cooking tool. Share a pic if you can. Brag it up... we are interested.
Unfortunately this Saturday was the coldest and rainiest May day so far. Going to Ace to pickup the Hibachi then getting charcoal, meats and veggies was out of the question for me.

On the plus side Ace hardware started a Grill promotion this week but on the downside it's only for grills $399 and over.
