Any turn-based strategy games out there?

I love playing RPGs on my phone, but I've looked and haven't been able to find any of these types of games. I'm talking about turn-based strategy like Fire Emblem or Agarest War. I've found plenty of RPGs but none like that.

Could someone please recommend a few to me?

See if you can get into the beta for Rubicon's Great Little War Game, started playing it today, really nice!

Of course you can play Fire Emblem etc with Emulators like GameBOID (available on the Slideme market), well worth looking into if you're a real fan of the genre.

Okay, I shall try it and I am way ahead of you :p

Knitewulf...I love Fire Emblem as well...great games in that genre include the Langrisser series (anime turn-based strategy games with heavy RPG elements) and the Shining Force series. Langrisser 1 came out in the US as "Warsong" on the Sega Genesis, which you can play using MD.EMU found in the market (excellent Genesis/Master System emulator). Langrisser 2 wasn't released in the U.S., but people have created translation patches for it. The one with the best graphics is the one for the SNES (Der Langrisser). It also came out on the Mega Drive (Japanese Genesis) but the graphics are better on the SNES one.

Here's a link to the translator's page/patch (check out the screenshots): Langrisser Projects Der Langrisser Translation

What's cool about the Langrisser series is that you not only command your commander (who can buy new equipment, gain in experience, etc.), but you also command his troops. So you'll be in control of several commanders/heroes at the same time, with all of their special spells, skills, etc. and then also all of their troops. It's a lot of fun. Both Langrisser 1 (Warsong) and Langrisser 2 are in my top 10 favorite console games.

Der Langrisser plays well on SNES9x EX on the market...the music is a bit messed up, but everything else is perfect. On Snesoid, another good SNES emulator, portions of the text were garbled, making it unplayable (at least to me). So I'd recommend using SNES9x EX.

Another great turn-based strategy game is Nectaris on the PC-Engine (Military Madness in the U.S. on the TurboGrafx). Neo-Nectaris is also awesome on the PC Engine CD (though you just have to check out a FAQ to see what the main four Japanese buttons do). And Nectaris: Military Madness is awesome for the U.S. Playstation. The games in this series only have very light RPG elements (your units gain experience and become stronger during the course of a battle), but the strategy is awesome and you get more pluses/minuses depending on your proximity to other friendly units/surrounding enemy units, etc.

BASE NECTARIS (USA) — All Things Nectaris, Military Madness & Earth Light (PC-Engine, DUO, TurboGrafx-16, Super Famicom, Gameboy, NEC PC-98, Sharp X68000, DOS, iPhone, WiiWare, Virtual Console, Android, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, i-

There's also the Shining Force series which I like a lot but not as much as the others because you only control the main characters in he story...there aren't any troops under their control...so you'd have like 8 movable characters max. Still a fun game but not as good as the Langrisser series IMO.

I'm checking out the Langrisser series right now and it looks like exactly what I'm looking for.
You've probably already heard of all these, but as a fellow fan of the genre I might as well point them out.

Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation
Tactics Ogre-The Knight of Lodis
Yggdra Union-We'll Never Fight Alone

They are all for the GBA and you can find a fully functioning(and my personal favorite) emulator on Yongzh's page:

Those are just the games I have recently found out, I haven't played any of them yet I am still attempting to get a platinum trophy for Agarest War Zero which I strongly recommend if you like Fire Emblem. It takes a little getting use to but I think I might actually enjoy this game more.

UniWar is fantastic and very similar to the amazing Advance Wars series . Its on the market.

Thanks, I will check that app out ASAP.

Hey Knitewulf...many thanks for the games suggestions...I actually hadn't heard of most of those. I'll definitely check them out.

I have played UniWar and I have been disappointed and stopped playing it. The gameplay itself is good, but there is a lack of challenge in the campaign mode. It is kinda like playing your little brother, you have to try, but as long as you pay attention it is difficult to lose.
I just wish there were better turn based strategy or SRPG games out for Android. I dont want to play anything that requires precision on a tablet. I dont want to lose because a screen tap didn't register and I definitely have no desire to tilt my tablet around on my commute (railroad).
Plants vs. Zombies is about as fast paced as I think a tablet game should be.
My favorite game of this type has been "Majesty" (Warcraft style game), which I recommend. I like the gameplay except that you cannot tell your soldiers ("heroes") what to do; you can only offer bribes to explore an area or attack an enemy. The heroes are not stupid and the game is enjoyable, but there is no chance to make a blitzkreig attack so each level takes longer than it has to. More management than strategy.
