Root any way around activation?

so i just got a droid 3, and i have no intention of using the verizon service, i kinda just want to use Google voice over wifi so when the phone is factory reset you need to go though this activation process in order to do anything, i was wondering if there is an easy way around that.

Yes. When the phone first starts, rather than press the android figure as it says on the screen, press the four corners of the screen in this order: top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left. The top presses are just under the notification area, iirc.

This will skip the setup and bring you right to the homescreen. From there you can turn on wifi, add a google account, etc.
