Any way to get Esteem to work internationally?

From all the research I've done the answer seems to be NO but I just want to ask you geniuses if there is any possible way to make the Esteem work with a phone company in Australia.

My phone isn't rooted yet and I would rather not If i can avoid it but if it is possible to get it to work there by rooting it I can give it a go.

No it will not work anywhere but on Metro's network. You can however use Skype over wifi with it overseas.

Someone, I cant remember who tho, used SIM Toolbox I think it was and got their phone working in Jamaica. Dont know how he did it tho
