Any way to mute the camera shutter sound?

I've silenced all sounds, all media sounds, silenced everything in Audiomanager....the camera shutter sound STILL will not obey.

Can you test this out on your Elite and post results? :)

Well, haven't tried it myself but the sounds are located in /syste/media/audio/ui/, found them after searching the forums a bit. There are actually a few sound files in there (not sure if it's because of the different camera apps that I have tried) that look like they could be the ones you need to edit:

cam_snap_0.wav
cam_snap_1.wav
cam_snap_2.wav
cam_snap_3.wav
camera_click.ogg
camera_snapshot.ogg
shutter1.ogg
shutter2.ogg
shutter3.ogg
shutter4.ogg
stich_shot.ogg

so if you are rooted it should be possible to just try replacing one of them with a blank sound then just select that one as your main sound.

I downloaded 'UV silent camera' from Android Play. Works fine for me when I need an occasional covert shot.

Thanks for the replies. I guess there is another good reason to root. :D

I find it strange the camera shutter sound won't obey system sounds being muted, have an "off" setting, or even be able to adjust the volume of it.

I think it's a privacy thing or something. They don't want people to be able to take discreet pictures with their phones.
