I don't know why these phones don't have a recycle bin.

While too late to be of help or comfort, there are a lot of recycle bin apps in the play store that could help for in the future.

Were the pics on an SD card or internal memory? If internal, I'm not sure there's anything you can do. If external, get a micro SD to USB adaptor, and google for a file recovery program you can use on a PC or Mac.

That's why I turn on Google photos backup. Would be cool if Android copied Apple for once and added a recently deleted folder.
