Help Any way to remove icons from the status/notification bar?

I have a GS5 running 5.0 that is not rooted. At the top of the screen I have the permanent icons for Bluetooth and the Alarm clock and I'd like to not see them. I don't need the phone to constantly tell me that my BT is on and that I have an alarm set.

Is there any way to get rid of these icons? Or maybe I can remove the Time from the top bar? Just trying to save space since I've had times when the whole bar was full but many of the icons were useless.

Thanks.

I don't think you can remove status icons without rooting unfortunately, unless the manufacturer includes the option e.g. Sony.

I'll move this to the Samsung Galaxy S5 sub-forum, so that other users of the device can contribute suggestions.

Is it easy to do if I root my phone? I hadn't because I never had a reason to but if this becomes annoying, that might be reason enough. ;)

Hi, if you go to "Settings", scroll down to "Notification Panel", activate that, I think you can move the icons in the "Active Buttons" area to the "Available Buttons" area, worth a try! Phil

That only affects what I see when I swipe down from the notification bar to view the shortcut buttons to turn off wifi and things like that. I'm talking about the little icons that are always at the very top of my phone to show me that I have an alarm set or that my Bluetooth is on.
