Help Any way to shut off new update notification?

I really don't want to install this latest update. My motto is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Any way to permanently turn off the stupid reminder to install the update? No matter what options I choose, it tells me once every 24 hours or so. I don't want your update, Samsung! No means no!!

Is your phone rooted? Is it a developer edition? If not, who's your carrier, and what build #are you running?
 
I had this problem, then remembered I had just done an all system file backup with titanium backup. Restoring to that worked. For my upcoming birthday present Verizon will be fired from my phone.
 
Not rooted. I have no idea what a developer edition is. Verizon. And I have no idea what a build number is either, sorry.

Your build # can be found under settings -> about phone, but probably doesn't matter- unless you're rooted and can freeze the SDM 1.0 app, I don't believe there's anything you can do about it. Sorry.

That's not the answer I was looking for!! LOL Yeah, I spent about 30 minutes in a chat session with Samsung tech support, which took him 29 minutes to understand what I was asking him and repeat the same thing over and over and over and 1 minute to say there was nothing I could do about it. Very frustrating because I'm guessing there's a 50/50 chance my phone will come away working not as well as before the update, and having to "reschedule" the update once or twice a day is getting old!!

The build number is KOT49H.N900VVRUCNC4

I really don't like the idea of rooting my phone because the last time I tried that with my Samsung Epic 4G Touch I bricked the phone even though I thought I followed the YouTube instructions to the letter. I think I'm over my head when it comes to that stuff and quite frankly probably wouldn't really take advantage of the extra features of a rooted phone anyway.

Well the predictable happened. Stupid update box popped up unexpectedly while I was texting someone and I accidentally pressed the "install now" button and of course the person(s) who designed the software didn't bother to ask me "Are you sure you want to do this now?" and immediately started the download without warning. Seriously, if a high-ranking representative from Samsung happened to be in my immediate vicinity it would not be pretty at all.

Stupid smart phone!!
