like the title says I know the answer is probably no not without rooting...
This GB OTA update Suxx for me..... stock Vanilla Evo non rooted
I really don't want to root and (possibly) lose 4g

nope unfortunately. like you said you would have to be rooted to go back to froyo. but rooting is very easy and you will most likely not loose your wimax keys. however, since you accepted the ota you can root just yet anyways as each ota usually closes any old exploits. it will take a bit as the devs figure out a new exploit to root your phone.

you maybe able to take your phone into a sprint tech and see if they can, but i could be wrong on that.

once they find a loophole I may root. worst is i bork my phone
