Anybody an Ubuntu geek and able to help me?

poopookakada

I've been away from PCs and Ubuntu for a while now and finally got my PC up and running again.

Here's my problem..... I have set up my laptop replacing pc as follows:

ASRock N68C-S UCC Motherboard
2.8Ghz AMD Athlon 2 Dual Core (64 bit)
2Gb DDR2 RAM
1Tb Hitachi HDD
LG Dual Layer DVD RW

I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 and got all the drivers up and running without any hassle..... except for one.
The onboard sound produces nothing, yet the drivers are installed and showing. All I want is to be able to connect my PC to my home stereo through the centre speaker port (the green one on the back) and for sound to actually come out ;)

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys :)

I am sure there are many here who can help but I'm sure you will get a much faster response that better suits your issue at ubuntuforums.com
It's where I go for all my ubuntu/Linux issues and they are amazing for this subject

that was my first thought too and after trying to solve it for several hours into the night i gave up.

I opened the alsa config file and saw that the device was set as secondary and to be ignored even though it was the only device in the system. Changed it to 0 rather than 2 and rebooted... job done :)

now all i need is dual monitors and i'm sorted :)
