Anybody still runing 4.4.4? from 4 to 6

Anybody out there still running Kitkat 4.4.4? I am pretty sure I read that it is possible to upgrade to 6 from 4.4.4. Given all the issues that appeared with the 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 upgrade and the missing mute button in 5.x (thanks google) I have stayed at 4.4.4.

Hope the move from 4.4.4 to 6 will be much smoother.

Thoughts, suggestions?

A couple of things.

The "stress" was with 5.o and it was fixewd with 5.1 (and 5.1.1 onb some models).
The Turbo went from 4.4.4 to 5.1 and missed the stress.
The turbo 2 is on 5.1.1 and the Turbo is on 5.1.
You could add a mute capability using Tasker and might be able to control it with the voice control plug-in.

If you are still on 4.4.4 and have found a way to keep the update from installing you can continue to use it that way. However, as Thom says there is not yet an upgrade to 6.0, and, when (or if) it does come, you'll not get an upgrade from 4.4.4 directly to 6.0.x. You'll have to take the intermediate update to 5.1 (I believe that there was another since then, to patch the stagefright exploits). The way that ota updates work is that they are offered to the latest release, so you'll have to take every ota until you get the one for 6.

So far there have been no non-Nexus phones that were running 5.x that have been updated to 6, so there is no way of knowing just yet if the marshmallow update is as troublesome as the first lollipop versions were last year. But a "last year" phone like the Turbo will not get marshmallow early anyway, so it's likely that any early bugs will have been squashed by the time it does.

There was one case in the past (Bionic) where there was a ground swell not to install an update and when a later update was made available Motorola created two updates ... one from the current version and one from the older version that many people stuck with.

Motorola pretty much solved the problems 5.0 had and went directly to 5.1.

Basically ... you are in a very small minority and I think the probability that Motorola will invest tons of money into an upgrade from 4.4.4 to 6.x is miniscule.

My guess also is that you will update to 5.1 before going to 6.x.

I recommend doing a Factory Data Reset before and after doing an update like 4.4.4 to 5.1 and 5.1 to 6.x.
