Anymore future options for Verizon?

Xiamen

Newbie
Currently I'm on a family plan on Verizon and as a result i don't really have an option to switch. (Not that i necessarily would anyway).

I wanted to get a smart phone that met the following criteria:
Larger form factor/display of HTC Incredible
4G
Dual-Core
Front-Facing Camera
Removable Battery (most important)

I was sitting on devices like the Razr and the Bionic, but these devices had no removable battery which is a big selling point for me because of my job. I'm texting, e-mailing, and browsing constantly and can probably eat through the battery life in a few hours.
I wanted a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S2, but Verizon was not set to receive that device. As it stands it is the "device to compare to".

Thus far from reading reviews, opinions, and watching videos the Samsung Galaxy Nexus not only meets all my preferred criteria, but looks like a damn good phone, but it still doesnt seem (based on opinions and reviews) to quite stack up to the Galaxy S2.

Am i worried about too much? or is the Nexus just fine on its own?

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is most likely exactly what you are looking for .... IIRC the Razr Maxx does not have a removable battery either and I see nothing on the horizon that will equal or pass the Gnex either .... Seidio just released a MONSTER battery for the phone as well but you will lose NFC as it is not supported with their battery .....

I can tell you coming from a household with a Rezound and a Gnex that the Gnex is by far superior IMO and I am positive with the upcoming update to 4.0.3 or 4.1 (whatever they are going to call it) the minor bugs should be solved ... Plus you wont have to wait for updates to come from a company that builds their UI into it ... You will get it direct from Google when it is ready ...

My vote goes to the gnex

The Nexus is, IMO, just fine on its own and stacks up quite well against the S2.

Fill rate is slightly lower thanks to the Exynos in the S2, but the Nexus plays games very well (at least in my experience). The screen is MUCH better than the S2, and I get better battery life than my coworkers with the S2 (there are three guys in my department that all went with the S2 from AT&T).

People claim that the S2 camera is much better, but I get very good results from my Nexus, certainly as good as I expect a phone camera to get, and I don't see that their pictures are turning out any better.

LG spectrum might be an option, but I'd take the nexus any day. HTC has a few good looking phones on the horizon but I'm not sure if any are coming to Verizon.

The nexus is great, but the exterior finish and camera aren't up to the incredible's standards. But it's the best phone on Verizon right now.

Thanks for the input! How big was that battery? The one mistake i made with my incredible is that i didn't buy a bigger battery when i got it.

What are you referring to when you talk about "fill rate"?
Also whats the difference with how updates are pushed out based on company? Some companies release their updates for the phone later than they should?

I'd ask about the bugs, but i think i saw a sticky with that information, so i'll spare the questions.

Skip the Seidio battery. Samsung offers a 2100 mAh battery, which is slightly bigger than stock, and the size difference on the phone is almost unnoticeable. Very nice.

"Fill rate" is referring to graphics performance. One of the things people say about the S2 is that it has better graphics performance. This is sort-of true (it's not exactly accurate but the details aren't important) but the Galaxy Nexus still has excellent performance.

For the Nexus phones, updates come right from Google as soon as they're ready. With other phones, you usually don't get every update, and it's usually many months before you get one at all.

i returned my extended samsung battery because i noticed little difference in battery life.

i bought the standard battery that comes with the portable charger and it's come in way more handy for me.

I would get 2 of those huge Seidio extended batteries if I had the G nex. Thats alot of battery life.

FYI, I have a bionic right here. Not only does it have a removable battery, but I also have an extended removable battery for it. I even have a micro to std sim adapter if I want to use it on VZW in place of my SGN.

i too have a bionic here with me-currently trying to sell it to re-fund my GN money. :D

no more moto phones for me after the bionic debacle.

You say you wanted a phone with a bigger screen and similar form factor as the Incredible right? the Rezound is exactly that and it is an amazing phone I loved mine but wanted the bigger screen and ics that came with the Nexus so I exchanged it after a month and got the Nexus . But in all honesty the Nexus and Rezound are the two best phones on Verizon you can't go wrong with either

There's a new LG phone with a 4.5" IPS display, interesting!

yeah the spectrum. played with one the other day, seemed like a good deal for $200.

only thing is, it had a ton of lag, but that may be from the verizon demo software...

1.5Ghz dual core snapdragon IIRC. But no ICS, so boo!

i know lol

surprising amount of lag depsite the 1.5's. also, it is set up for ICS, as it only has three soft buttons at the bottom, but i think Lg says it isn't getting ICS until the end of the year. not sure how reliable lg is with updates, never owned one of their phones...

Define lag?

Switching between screens isn't that in my book...

What app were you having problems with? Currents? Maps? I'm not so sure you stated what was specifically lagging.

I'll have to check this new 4.5" IPS screen out at the store tomorrow!
