Root Anyone able to get WIRED tether to work with Fresh 3.4.0.1?

I can get Wifi tethering to work but I have a laptop that doesn't have a wifi card that i would like to set up to use wired tethering.

I downloaded the wired-tether-1.4.apk but it force closes all the time when i click on start tether.
 
Yes. Using root explorer go to system/lib and then change the name of the file libnativetask.so to libnativetask.so.bak That should do the trick for you. You may need to redownload wired tether at that point.
 
Not that I or anyone else I have talked to have experienced. And it is for that reason that I say rename it instead of deleting it - so you can easily change it back later if you like. The only thing I have heard is one person told me their wireless tether app stopped working, but a simple reinstall took care of that issue.
 
I haven't tried wired tether. Let me know how it works for you. I use easy tether, the free version and then just check my email on the phone.
 
I use wired tether 90% of the time. It consistently gets me faster speeds than wireless and is free and fully unlocked (unlike easy tether or pda).
 
i renamed the file, thanks, but i still can't get any internet access. wired tether turns on though so it kind of works. however wireless tethering now force closes so i fixed that by renaming the file back to its original filename. i think i'll stick with wireless tethering or try easy tether.

Did you reinstall wireless tether as I mentioned in my earlier post? I have heard that wireless tether stopped working for 1 other person before after the renaming, and a simple reinstall fixed it. I have both wired tether (at least on 4G, I never use it for anything else) and wireless tether working - I have also been able to help others get both working as well.
 
thanks, i removed and reinstalled wifi-tether and now it works!

with wired tether, does the computer/laptop/client need to have any special drivers to use the connection? or do i just plug the phone into a USB cable, fire up wired tether and the client computer will just recognize it as an internet connection and i'm free to start browsing the net?
